  1. Forget the title of the series NN has read or is still reading. But this short story could be the AAR or epilogue to that story. gonna bug me what is the name… space aliens invade human settlement get trounced alien ground commander killed by human soldier with scary skull paint on helmet. Alien fleet commander runs in defeat back to home system. Humans pursue with war ships and their super smart AI Athena. Alens sell human prisoners into slavery to some other aliens they actually hate. Dammit😆🤔… Somebody tell me what is the name of that dang story it's making my brain itch!

  2. You know those really important rules on the limitations of warfare against stellar empires? Yeah, that's because of us… we just implemented the Geneva Checklist against our first enemy.

  3. I always find it funny when there's stories of how humans exterminate/subjugate aliens in a first contact scenario because we learned warfare from fighting each other. It's funny because apparently in those timelines we learned how to war from history, but then ignored history when it comes to what to do after a war. The contrast of how the defeated nations were treated after WW1 and WW2 and the results of those different treatments is staggering.

  4. Murdering (and G_d knows what else) noncombatants is a very dangerous way to introduce yourselves to humans.

Earning our undying wrath is a prize to be avoided at all costs.

  5. every galaxy society develops rules of war , if for no other reason then when they taste total war at the hands of their local death world species
because those species always forges civilizations where intentions and reasons weight balances the scales and if a existential threat is found lacking… it never gets a second chance

  6. Ahh yes. Weaponized racism! Directed at an entire generation of a single species! that has absolutely nothing to do, with what they're hated for and possessing no way to directly enquire about, or defend themselves from, wholly and completely unjustified hate.
    How very…. american.

    Sounds familiar.

  7. This and other, similar, stories remind me of what is said about the Turks. I taught at a Turkish university for a year, and even asked the Turks about the saying. They said that this is a part of their culture, "for a friend remember and repay every kindness, give a friend the shirt off your back if need be, but never forgive or forget a slight, insult or injury." Or as the saying has it, "the Turks will be your best friend or your worst enemy." I experienced the kindness myself, every day and from every Turkish student for decades thereafter. When the Greeks sent aid after a terrible earthquake in Turkey, the Turks responded in kind when there was an earthquake in Greece, despite generations of antipathy. Kindness and respect for kindness and respect is a matter of honor for the Turks. My fellow Americans are somewhat disposed to this behavior, however, we are not as reliable in friendship and and may be quick or slow to forgive. Ask the Kurds, Afghans, Germans, Japanese and Ukrainians about our fickleness.
