I love this series of really silly stories about Big Dhakka
At the end of the story, it sounds like the aliens managed to contact their god. And their god is the Author.
Never!!
what next? a giant musket that launches moons?🤔
What do you mean we've "built a ship with a big gun"? That's just plain stupidity! We wouldn't do such nonsense! It's actually a big gun, with some ship parts stuck to it.
hans we need bigger gun😂😂😂
I mean, …. we COULD stop.
but …
we still have yet to figure out what 'enough Dakka' actually is.
WE MUST CONTINUE IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!!
Hol' up, some of the species were actually threatening sanctions against humanity after this?
[Malicious smile]
Guess humanity needs to make more dakka. Y'know. Just to prove a point.
Co:"see that fleet I don't want to see it anymore"
A big gun is a fun gun!
'what? hold on we're about to test galaxy buster, yes it has a name we call it the Armstrong, unfortunately its muzzle loaded which make is slow to reload but it does have a modest shell size only 1million ton …. what do we use to fire it? no its not rail or gauss … oh good guess yep we use antimatter charges thats why its muzzle loading, we havent figure out how to make a strong enough breach … yet'
lol
When your firepower is so great, even your allies surrender to you after only one shot.
Then humanity answered: But the big rocks want to go faster.
Psychotic laughing?
Yeah, that sounds right.
It seems Texas managed to conquer Earth. It was only a matter of time, really.
I like to think this is in the same universe as “an open letter to humanity” and “when humans created a sentient singularity”
Something a lot of these amateur sci-fi writers don't seem to understand is that a giant spaceship is just a giant target. our ability to penetrate armor will always surpass whatever armor we create. And space, just like the ocean, is a hostile environment where if your vehicle breaks down you're screwed. So that's a lot of money, lives, and equipment that you'd be losing if the ship gets taken down.
Plus, even though you don't have to worry about weight or drag slowing you down, mass and inertia would make speeding up, slowing down, and turning an arduous process. As such, it would be incapable of forcing smaller, more maneuverable ships into an engagement. This, in turn, gives said smaller ships control of the battle; they can dance outside the Giant's effective weapon range, and since the large warship has less maneuverability, IT would have to be much further away to have a chance at avoiding enemy fire. This means enemy ships would be able to shoot it, but it won't be able to shoot them.
It's not that a giant warship can't work; it's just that a giant warship needs to be supported by smaller, lighter warships. Not just pop into an active warzone all by itself and solo an entire fleet.
Honestly, history has taught us countless times the folly of putting all your eggs in one basket, how a bunch of small sticks put together are sturdier than a single thick stick, the bigger they are the harder they fall, etc.
Honestly, big guns aren't even that useful in a ship-to-ship engagement because, again, space is HUGE; you're never going to have enough area coverage to make it impossible for enemies to dodge.
Powerful weapons are better reserved for stationary targets; like planets and space stations.
5:00 if the human warship is out of the enemy ship's range, them the enemy ships would DEFINITELY be out of its effective range. Big doesn't mean your projectiles or energy beams travel any faster.
5:44 yeah, this author has no sense of scale. Why would the ships be anywhere near kilometer range of each other. Grouping up serves zero strategic purpose in open space combat, and such relatively short distances significantly increase the risk of friendly fire, or worse, ship to ship collisions while maneuvering.
Besides, if the ships had to be that close together to fight, then that railgun would also be destroying allied ships because they were already in engagement with one another.
We don't build ships we build very big mobile guns
no, I don't want to stop making them papa
human engineerevery human known to the galaxy
"INTENSIFY FORWARD FIREPOWER!"
A dimension canon nice but not big enough for my ships lol
My first thought when I read this title was "No."
hey, the giant mg42 was a propulsion system and not a weapon.
well, it can be used as one but its primary job is propulsion.
Worked didn’t it? What’s the problem?
You know, when the spinal cannon was mentioned, I expected one of two things. One was similar to what we got. The other was an enormous fleet-killing shotgun.
bigger you say, ok then
Gods are laughing while saying “you think we made them, they made themselves”
Gods are laughing even though the next gun will be a godkiller, they just know to stay away from our plane of existence
tis but a peashooter
