  5. It would be super hard for former sapiens to exist in modern times, if we brought them back. There was a big jump in tool use and aggressiveness. Neanderthal had bigger muscles and a bigger brain. We didn't need to be smarter or stronger, we just needed to be more aggressive and better at using spears.

    They'd probably be nicer than us though.

    In a less "opinion" and more "fact" thing;

    Bog iron was first gathered by the Old Norse, and it was found in noodles, pea sized, generated by the natural biological processes in peat. By carefully replacing the peat afterwards the next generation could do it again.

    Aside from meteoric iron they traded with the sami or intuit for, this bog iron is how Vikings made every single iron weapon and the thousands of nails they needed per longboat. That sweet spot where Europe hadn't figured out mining yet was the golden age for the Vikings, and they took over every bit of bog they possibly could.
