German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called rebuilding Ukraine a “generational task” as he opened an international reconstruction conference for Ukraine in Berlin.
Scholz, the current head of the G7 club of wealthy nations, said Ukraine could count on the support of the international community for decades to come as it seeks to repair and upgrade its infrastructure.
“What is at stake here is nothing less than creating a new Marshall Plan for the 21st century, a generational task that must begin now,” Scholz said.
Rebuilding Ukraine represents a “challenge for generations”, Scholz said, but one that also provides a chance to modernise Ukraine’s roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and transport links.

Why not make the cost of any visa to any Russian leaving Russia or entering any other country include a fee of $5,000.00 contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
If Russians don't want to pay then their travel options will be limited to North Korea and Iran. In view of the number of Ukrainian children murdered of kidnapped for adoption the price should also be applied to Russian children's visas.
It will also serve to remind Russians indefinitely why the world now hates them.

The Western Alliance has tacitly accepted a status-quo in which the aggressor nation can use threats of nuclear retaliation to deter retaliatory attacks on its own territory, while actively attacking and pursuing the annihilation of civilian populations and infrastructure in the nation it seeks to annex. Unless this self-defeating status-quo is abandoned, Ukraine stands no chance of surviving the Russian invasion.
I remember when they met to discuss rebuilding Syria 😂. Here we are a decade later. Ukraine awaits a similar fate. You can say Alistair said so 😂
They should concentrate on rebuilding their own nations economies which are in tatters. If European Union makes the mistake of using Russian sovereign wealth for this purpose, they will lose trust. Many nations will be paying heed to this move which would mean the Euro currency will never recover to its previous position of second reserve currency. What most people in the West have ignored is that most of the global South are now ready for a change in nearly every aspect of international laws and institutions including reduction of dollar as the reserve currency. It is a new world order where all power centres will shift from the West to the East. EU forgot that commodities are kings: They are not blessed with a lot of that. Russia will now be associated more with Asia than Europe.

Oh yeah. They're going to rebuild Ukraine in exactly the same way they rebuilt Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, etc etc etc.

The war isn't over to be able to estimate the costs of rebuilding. Do they take into account the destruction that might happen in the next months or only what has been destroyed till now? What if Ukr will become a big pile of rubble almost impossible to rebuild in the next few years? Isn't it premature for Zel to ask at this point in time for all these billions? Wait till the war is over, estimate the damage, then find out the cost of reconstruction. It seems so easy to say 750 billions $ now …and expect that it will be a piece of cake to be gifted to Ukr on the expense of the citizens that had to choice but agree…and if it might cost double it will still be endless agreement.
