Benefits of having Qatar Airways extra flights was ‘crystal clear’

Virgin Australia’s Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer Christian Bennett says the benefits of having the extra flights from Qatar Airways proposed by the carrier were “crystal clear”.

“Hence the very strong reaction there has been around the economy in response to the decision to deny Qatar,” he told Sky News Australia.

  1. Airline industry vet here….and commercial pilot. We don't need more Qatar subsidised flights comming into Australia. They don;t pay the same costs as Qantas and standards (technical and flight crew) are not the same………

  2. 'The national carrier today confirmed its support for the YE$S campaign ahead of the upcoming referendum for an Indigenous VOICE to Parliament and unveiled special livery on three Qantas Group aircraft.' – google

  3. It’s a no brainer! 800k additional seats in the market. Qatar’s Doha airport is a massive international hub which can bring tourists to Australia and fill up hotels and restaurants, beside lower prices for citizens travelling abroad or coming home. …. They aren’t competing in domestic flights, just international ones. It’s a ridiculous decision in a time Aussies pay the highest fares!!

  4. You would think a national carrier will remain neutral from a hot political issue like the referendum (for the good of
the company), and will not waste money painting political slogans on their planes and passing the cost to their customers, but no! Corporations are infected by wokeness. And the government kickback is to screw hotels (keep tourists away from Australia) and keep Aussies pay the highest international fares of all OECD countries!! 😵‍💫
