Beating EVERY N64 Game – Lode Runner 3-D (104/394)

Based on the old school puzzle games, this adapted the Lode Runner series to 3D. Many games took their successful 2D formulas and tried to bring them to three dimensions for this generation of gaming. How did they do? Well, you better watch to find out. I’m not gonna tell you here!

  1. The original Lode Runner is a classic but this one is confusing. The camera sucks and you never seem to have a clear view. Well, they tried and put lots of new things into it but I prefer the clean 2D gameplay of the real Lode Runner. It didn't need a bunch of different objects, enemies, or traps to be fun.

  2. BRO DUCK DODGERS! Flashbacks to me renting it from Blockbuster and never wanting to return it but alas, I was a poor child and couldn't obtain my own copy. Might be worth an emulation try but I'm worried that the game just won't hold up after all these years. I never did beat the game so i'm excited to watch how this game actually plays. Love this series and it's truly daunting just how many games there are for this amazing system.

  4. The N64 nostalgia has always been strange to me since I never had one. Got a SNES in like 99/00 then soon after got a PS1. The only game from it I ever played was Pokemon stadium. Feels like I'm one of very few ppl in my generation that lacks the nostalgia.

  5. Loderunner is one of the first platformers – it's strictly a ladders and levels game because there is no jumping – the first game of this type was called Space Panic which was 1980 arcade game. Loderunner came after that and was released on computers – but it's very close to that original game and all of its versions on computers came with a level editor. This version isn't strictly 3D – it plays like a 2D game although it does use 3D to create circular paths that would require wrap around on a 2D display. But it's a nice game and it can be satisfying but the monks can be annoying. I had this one back in the day and enjoyed it. I recently traded my cart and upgraded it from PAL to the JP-NTSC version.
