  1. Feels like a massive nerf, we lost soo much and gained so little. Some nice gimmick here and there but that hardly enough to warrant the nerf hammer.
They overshot the WD herdstone buff, and instead of fine tunning it they just slapped the entire army. Was hoping for a good book but this aint it G.

  2. We lost run and charge on everything , rally is only on 5+ and only for gor/bestigo/ungor, lost the army wide rally, summoning, the rend debuff is nerfed, shaman lost +3 move aura, points went up a lot, even tzeentch units are more expensive in boc. Gavespawn subfaction bonus is gone. As a BOC main it sting tbh ….the price increase on the shaggoth is crazy …Mino Lord command is neat thought ….

  3. Um +100-200? Try +900pts, I tested 5 lists, the lowest was +670pts, the most was +1050pts, an average of around 850pts, with summoning going away thats 1k less points. I literally have 1/2 on the table as I did before with only about 10% more wounds and saves and from what I can tell maybe 40% more damage, on top of that I lost a huge amount of movement, 3" across the board for Brays and some other micro movements on other units, yes I gain charge bonuses but that doesn't help get out of danger or take objectives. Over all I am extremely worried for now.

  4. I have to say I am not a fan of the Bullgor and Doombull changes. The new Slaughterers Call just doenst seem very good. The Great Axes for both losing the extra rend makes them a much tougher choice. Especially since dual axes have the higher potential damage now in addition to the same rend. Ghorgon and Cygor look great but I am not happy that they took all the rend from the Chimera either. Just a really weird way to make hordes of high rend be reduced when they took away the high rend stuff and equalized it between the hordes and elite stuff.

  5. Well my army is completly destroyed thanks to the new point cost. This is insane! not only we lose the summoning entirely but the rally is worse and the rend bonus is worse and on top of that everything cost much, much more points. I was playing a full tzaangor army so i'm hit full tilt buy the nerf hammer. RIP boc

  6. Wow, I’m tempted to say just from reading artefacts and traits that the bin guy once again wrote the ones for Gloomspite and the win guy these! Just a one on one comparison; the Loonboss can have an artefact that gives him +1 to hit and wound, these guys can do aoe damage around objectives; strike last, or ignore ward saves!

  7. Mechanically speaking, I think the army has gotten a lot of useful abilities (although many are of the frustrating "blue magic" variety that Lumineth 1.0 had — lots of strike last, reduce number of attacks, etc — but also combined with some interesting offense changes), not to mention lots of 5+ rally and movement shenanigans
    Some good spells too

But man those points changes (and while I am not a BoC player, quick math tells me the current lists are gonna jump by a lot more than 100-200 pts)

We'll see how it turns out

  8. Defensive abilities seem strong. I think people will lean into board control stacking -1 attacks while a great bray in reserve forces your hammer to run towards the board edge every turn

  9. I'm loving these changes. The beasts of Chaos are really feeling like they've come into their own. Summoning monsters never really made sense to me, so I'm excited to see easy Rallys board-wide, loads of counter-play and some really interesting combos that are gonna make the whole faction feel fresh!

  10. Throw Away Line Apology: YES your army likely went up more than 100-200 points. I meant to say couple of hundred points as all list builds will be different. Hope we can let this one slide

  11. On the plus side, I don't need to buy any new models. My 2k list is now 2845pts and all the situational stuff I brought along for summoning can safely go on the shelf.

I do look forward to seeing how this new army plays, but it's not going to function anything like it did. Should make for much shorter games at least. I don't expect to have anything left on the table by the time I get to that -2 rend from the stone.

  12. Those are A LOT of changes. I do prefer the general direction of stronger units over the endless flood of cheap stuff that the army used to be. But it is hard to say how the army will play overall.
Some of the points increases seem a bit too drastic though. Like the Shoggoth, for example.

  13. Woof there's a lot of negativity here. As always, try to focus on what we've gained and not what we've lost. We're no longer a summoning swarm, now we're an absolutely brutal glass cannon melee force.

#1: We have some of the best traits and artifacts in the game bar none
#2: The spell lores are great, plenty of solid options
#3: Many of our more elite units now hit like absolute trucks

I think the best unit in the book has to be the Great Bray Shaman. Being both a wizard and getting +6" to the Rituals of Ruin for a 95 point package is insane. Slapping d6 mortals or pulling enemy units out of position within 18" with no counter play? Heckin' stonks. For bonus points go Allherd and easily regenerate every unit you damage each turn.

That aside, I think the best glow up in the army (perhaps controversially) is probably the Chaos Gargant. This boi went from totally unplayable to a very interesting toolkit at 145 points. Drunken Swagger being gone is a (dark) god send and his 3" aura of -1 to enemy unit saves is a MASSIVE deal considering how many of our units lost a point of rend. You want effectively rend -3 Bestigors on turn 2? This lad is for you.

I'm also really excited to try a squad of 6 Bullgor. FINALLY they have the 2" reach they always deserved! They'll be dropping on average a spicy 6 mortals before combat even starts, plus doing extra mortals in the combat phase due to Bloodgreed. I think going duel weapons is probably the best choice for them now, which is a bit of a shame since like most I have mine built with Great Axes. Still, I think Great Axes aren't a terrible shout. Hitting and wounding on 3+ is very nice, and makes them less of a unit you need to spend an "All out Attack" to make them reliable in combat. Get them in combat near a Beastlord who's in combat with an enemy hero and enjoy hitting and wounding on 2's!

Speaking of the Beastlord, I feel like GW finally nailed it with it's warscroll. Firstly the artifact "Slitherwrack Helm" feels made for him IMO. Making whatever he charges fight last on a 2+. This gives you the ability to absolutely dogpile scary enemy monster heroes who don't pick their engagements carefully enough. Did an ironjaws cabbage just charge your Ungor Screen? Counter charge with this boi, probably make them fight last, and laugh manically as everything you can squeeze wholly within 12" gets +1 to hit and wound. It's just "Beasts of Chaos" units too, so from Bestigors to Ghorgons EVERYTHING in our army will benefit from this.

I am so excited to get some games in and try the new book out. Thank you for the review, Coach!

  14. As a non-beast player, unless you count my Tzaangors, this has made me excited to maybe add some Bullgor and a Doombull to my Tzeentch army in addition to a shaggoth and some dragon ogres.
I've got over 5000 points of units to stuff into various Tzeentch lists from 2 books, might as well make it 3.

  15. Reactions to the new battletome from BoC players? It was like a millions goats bleated out in despair. They lost free models and easy rally, oh no they might actually have to play the game again !?
No, but seriously this battletome looks really interesting, like something I'd like to play and it'll take some clever plays to avoid getting caught out by some of the new tricks. Love it. Kudos to GW, despite the crap they drop, sometimes they do some good stuff too.
One thing I don't like: beastmen charge can make the opponent strike last? It makes no sense (compels me though)

  16. Speaking as the proud owner of three Razorgors, GW choosing to preserve the Razorgor model but squatting the Tomb Kings range is like rushing into your burning house to rescue the matted hair clogging your tub drain while shoving your kid into the flames.

  17. Honestly i think this book is more versatile but far less competetive. The price tag on all the units its veeeeeeery pricy sure they hit horder but the cant take a hit back. I can have 60% less units in my list from before and the damage increased but the survivability isnt enough without summoning in the endgame.
