  1. re 5 and 6 are literally just 4 with different places
if baffles me people praise 4, 7 and 8, but hate 5 and 6
theyre all the estranged, lost main story, lost Umbrella, disconnected games with no direction
they messed up 3 remake sooo much and the opportunity afterwards
Outbreak remake is the only thing I have hope for left to truly save Resident Evil for me
they need to make it decent as a single player game and amazing as multiplayer game
and I pray its huge, I want to feel like I have explored almost all there is to see in Raccoon City

  2. i guess my re opinions to fit that image would be
i dont like re3 very much. i find nemmy annoying, his boss fights to be kinda bs, the higher emphasis on combat didnt work, and the dodge mechanic is ass. i think CV is a better game and has better difficulty design/balance
its def better than remake tho
i also dont like 7 much either even preferring 8

  3. I disagree with the opinion of Outbreak being a bad experience offline, but I do get his point.
Of course I speak only for myself but playing both Outbreaks offline was amazing, watching the AI doing all sorts of random bullshit and getting rekt was extremely fun.

  4. I FUCKING KNEW RE3R WAS A GODDAMN DLC AT SOME POINT THE FUCKING THING IS WAY TO SHORT IT SUCKS SO MUCH AS NOW I AM EVEN MORE PISSED AT CRAPCOM THEN EVER KNOWING THIS SHIT THEY PULLED!! Like wow instead of putting the Money and effort into making RE3R as good as RE2R if not better they decided "Well RE2 Remake sold well but eh we will give the Fan's a half assed rEmAkE and sell it to them full price" it literally took me 2 hours to beat the game my first playthrough when I knew nothing about where to go and shit on standard which yes is basically normal mode but still it took me Day's to beat RE2R Capcom should have taken that shit off Steam and made a Public apology for that shit and for at least a week let people refund that shit and Remake their bullshit excuse for a Remake from the ground up fucking idiot's also one more thing I 1000000% Disagree with RE6 being a "good" game in anyway shape or form if someone likes it that is fine but it does not get rid of the fact that it is one of the worst game's ever it feels like a job to play that goddamn game and not the type of job that fits you it is the type of job where it is completely the opposite of what you wanted in a job it just doesn't suit you alright it just fucking sucks sorry for the horrid amounts of vulgarity but I just cannot stop myself from getting mad at some stuff when it comes down to the RE game's and all of that

  5. That re7 take is so true honestly. The second half of the game is boring. Corridor after corridor in pitch darkness fighting boring monsters. Plus it drags on alot as well. Re5 also has always been an excellent game. These are not hot takes rather solid opinions.

Also my RE3 remake first playthrough on hardcore (max difficulty available at launch) – 4 hours 53 minutes
RE4 remake first playthrough hardcore – 18 Hours 52 minutes

  6. in my opinion, the best RE games are both 1 (original and remaster), both 2 (original and remake) and both 4 (original and remake), I like more Puzzle Game than action game, one game that I loved outside Resident Evil Series is Daymare 1998

  7. I'm not even a big fan of RE, but pretty much every time I heard people complaining about it not having zombies anymore I thought it was dumb. Even in the classic ones there were more than just zombies and BOWs were always important. That's not even mentioning that it sorta made sense the series got faster since now it's people being proactive in taking out BOWs and terrorists/companies that use/make them rather than just trying to survive. Just my thoughts on "real RE" 🤷

  8. These aren't really hot takes but good ones nonetheless.
Most of the appreciation for RE7 I've seen are indeed the first half. It feels like the tanker/boat stuff is memory-holed by the fandom, not that I blame them, lol.
RE:3 being DLC isn't so much a hot take as it is speculation. I don't think it was meant to be a DLC personally, I think Capcom just tossed it in the lap of the B-team while they worked on 2 and Village and rushed it out at that, then threw in Resistance to justify the price as you said.
I've been seeing a lot of newfound appreciation for 5 and 6 lately so this might've been scathing back then but now, I think most people see it that way. In fact, I sometimes see people who preferred the action movie era of RE to the return of survival horror.
Outbreak is still a bit underrated but if there's any discussion of RE remakes and remasters online, I'm bound to see it pop up. I'm 101% behind an Outbreak remake/remaster, preferably a remake because I want the cut scenarios to be made, and to have Outbreak tie into the new remake lore. Outbreak is the perfect game for the live service era, as the biggest mistake of the original was timing.

  9. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences, whether in terms of gameplay or plot.
In my case, I preferred the classic games, as I played the ones with carnivorous zombies, because in my opinion it was more sinister and fun. For me, a zombie that is a zombie does not use weapons to kill, and the producers completely abandoned the original plot after RE 6.
I may not like RE 5, 6, 7 or Village, but if you do I respect you and that's okay. Even if I don't agree with all opinions, I have to respect the preference, opinion and taste of others. A matter of taste is not discussed, so diversity is recognizing and respecting the individual and the collective, and that is what makes us a community.

  10. outbreak offline may be ass but i had a blast and its literally the only game in the series where i killed a zombified lion with a broom after it killed all my AI friends lol, I miss it.

  11. Well, we RE fans are stuborn and we never change our minds no matter what XD I like all RE games but yeah 5 and 6 are not my taste but playing with a friend I had fun doesn't matter if is a RE game or another brand the game playing by yourself is not fun but dead space 3 is better playing by yourself it's ok, I think RE 5 was build around coop and this is why feels bad playing alone and good with a friend the mood around it feels action game and not a horror, RE 6 no different from RE 5. REvelations is a good well made evolution of RE 4 while REvelations 2 is kinda same as RE 5/6 but better it is closer to Dead Space 3 it can be a game to be enjoyed alone or coop. Outbreak idk I played by myself and had fun it is indeed molded around coop it had its annoying parts playing alone but nothing that made think it's not fun. Now if you ask me if I could delete a RE game from history I would choose RE 0 since it feels out of place, the story don't walk hand to hand with RE 1 remake or the original nor the enemies are good even the leeches were best used in RE 5, all RE games feels an evolution in story but RE 0 doesn't it doesn't feel an "origin" story, RE 5 and Veronica gave enough material for an origin story while RE 0 gave none just feels like a DLC from REmake.

  12. Imagine if capcom listened to the fossils, every re game will take place in a city named after an animal, oh shit look out its mr T. Sneak by the lurkers so they don’t attack you. Don’t get bitten by the U virus zombies! Watch out for snore’s venomous fangs Chris!

  13. Want a hot take? The original RE4 is the worst game in the franchise, and people love it only because they grew with it and probably was their first RE.

And yes, worse than Survivor 2 and Umbrella Corps. Those ones are bad on their own but have no impact on the series.

  14. Tbh, and this is my opinion, I feel like RE7 better fits the description of "it's a good game, but it's a bad RE game." And that's ironically BECAUSE Capcom tried to bring the series back to its campy horror movie roots.

RE1 started as an homage to bad but fun American horror movies, but from RE2 onward, the series came into its own with a better fleshed out world, better written characters, and an ever increasing roster of monstrosities.

RE7, on the other hand, felt more like watching a Wrong Turn movie or the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre rather than an attempt to further expand on the established world.

RE6 is a game that threw too wide a net and caught very little. It tried to appeal to everyone, but fell short in their execution with badly written and poorly paced stories. This is a symptom of a development that had to split its attention between each of the different scenarios instead of focusing on and carefully crafting a singular fun experience.

Also since I'm here, I think Resistance was fun and could have been an actually great multiplayer game if Capcom was willing to put the time and resources into fixing the huge balance issues present in the game.

  15. I disagree with re6 being a "good game". It's not a good resident evil because it's not even a good game. Replaying it with my friend was a miserable experience that we abandonned. The animations in this game are some of the worst. Some animations lock you into them, some of them make the enemies invulnerable. The Leon campaign is completely ruined by the bullshit boss that keeps coming back instantly in the most ridiculous way that is legit just embarassing… Tiger -> Dinosaur -> Big Tiger -> A FLY?! To me even if you ignore the fact that it's an RE game it's still at best a 5.

  16. I think Re3 remake is a excellent game subjectively, but it is missing a lot from the original so it falls out as a remake. It gets a lot of hate for being a bad remake, and i understand why but the game quality still stands.Capcom decided that re3 is not a profitable project so they didn t go all in which is a shame since they are more than capable of creating a top quality remake.

  17. 5 and 6 and the logical extension/continuation of what 4 started. 4 glorified b-movie campy action, and 5 and 6 delivered on that premise further. (To the extent 5 may be a C-movie, and 6 may be the silly fanfiction with a camera you and your friends come up with in the backyard as kids.) They at least mechanically worked better. The RE engine games tend to animation lock you with I-frames few and far between. Let me stop an action I'm locked into, if I'm gunna get hurt while doing it. Basic game design lesson, that was already learned by the series in prior installments. Rev2 is arguably the best 'modern' RE.

I didn't like 7 for a multitude of reasons, one reason being because there was a bug that allowed Baker to see me through walls a couple of times on my first playthrough, and after that I had to use speedrun strats instead. That is a horrible first experience, and ruins the game. I did like 7's DLC, because they took each part of the game and laser focused it to actually being good. The base game was a 6-7/10 tops, but the DLC was 9-9.5/10, depending on which aspect you liked, and could skip over the ones you didn't. I will say all RE engine games need to be designed around the (out of combat at the bare minimum) run speed being 50% to 150% faster. With the amount of map traversal, it is such a pain. The run is like a leisurely jog, which I get if you immersively want to simulate long-term endurance, but makes the game a chore. Strangely enough 7 (partially) fixed the problem in their own game… in only 1 section. The backyard in-between the house/greenhouse/swampdocks with the trailer had much greater movement speed, but they sadly slowed you down to molasses when you re-enter a different zone.
