Kings and Generals’ historical animated documentary series on the history of Rome continues with an episode of the post-Caesar Civil Wars, as we look at what happened after the initial shock of Caesar’s assassination. This episode will continue with the aftermath of the battle of Mutina, as Octavian, Antony, and Lepidus created a triumvirate, taking over Rome, which signaled to Brutus and Cassius, that there will be another civil war. The latter collected their legions and started building their base of operations, leading to the battles of Xanthos and Rhodes, and that, in turn lead to the battle of Philippi that would decide the fate of the war between the Caesareans and Pompeians.

  1. what's the deal with modern historians? they dont believe anything? it's like a constant prejudice whenever there's a historical record about army number, they'll assume it's always exaggerated. jeez.

  2. Fun facts..
.Saint Paul was imprisoned in Philippi. To them He wrote the letters mentioned in the New Testament. There is also the baptistery of Saint Lydia(first to be baptized in European soil).
Near stood the port of Neapolis which was destroyed(and all the pop either massacred or sold as slaves)by the ottomans more than 14 cent later and today its knows as Kavala.
The most ancient documentation of rules on wine PDO was discovered at the nearby island of thassos

  3. Funnily quirk of fate, that this battle is lost in the first battle, where the loss of cassius and falling of sole command upon the shoulders of brutus with weakened army attempting to fight on against the stronger and well coordinated army of the triumverate.

  4. tanks , you are one of the few people that are willing to "Find the truth by very simply following the money," what you have begun to uncover is the beginning of the Military industrial complex, married to the formation of Central Banking. The founding Fathers , at the Birth of America , warned about this danger to the Free Peoples. Now we live in days of expanding control of the "ELITE' few over the increasingly exploited citizens of the once free western democracies. As a past serving military man ; I worry profoundly over the future of western peoples. The ' Shadow Elite " have shown how utterly ruthless, and evil they are. tnx good luck, best wishs

  5. The tendency of the Pompeians to have themselves killed well before they were captured really crippled their leadership. It's no surprise that the Triumvirate won when their enemies were ready to kill themselves at the slightest possibility of being captured.
