guess in the end, the only thing those super battleships accomplished, was making the U.S. have use a lot of bombs and torpedoes to sink them

What an epic battle it would have been if the 34th would have stayed in san bernardino straight. Fast battleships against the Yamato and her fleet. Taffy 3 just barely escaped complete destruction.

frankly the battle of leyte gulf would be much better movie material then say Midway, multiple fronts, multiple possible perspectives, surface battles, sub attacks and air battles
Mogami ran into what I think was the cruiser Mikuma at Midway and caused Mikuma to be sunk, then Mogami ends up getting run into during this battle and sunk because of it. If that was part of a story and not real history, I'd say that's almost too coincidental.
