/* —– VIDEO INFORMATION —– */

Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I’m your host Paul and this video we’re breaking down Batman Returns.

Now incase you missed our last video, there I talked about how I grew up with Batman 89. My mum basically taped it off the tv but would stop recording everytime it got violent. So I had a sort of cut up version of the film and though I still loved it, I didn’t get the full version of it until many years later.

On the other side of it this was the actual official VHS my mum and dad got me. Which…yeah at 5 years old might not have been the best thing looking back.

However I was absolutely in love with this film as a kid and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. This was the Batman that raised me and I can’t wait to journey back through it.

So come with me as we break down the movie and talk about all the hidden details within it. This will cover the easter eggs and making of trivia and basically everything you need to know about the movie.

With that out the way, thank you for clicking this, now let’s get into Batman Returns.

So the title Returns is of course a staple within film franchises. Beyond that though it’s also a big part of Batman’s history. When they originally were pitching Batman they used Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns as a basis to demonstrate the tone. This was a time in which Batman was seen as camp due to the 66 tv show and the word Returns also played into some of the scripts.

  2. This is a close second to The Dark Knight as my favorite Batman movie… I guess sequals can be great after all! The ballroom scene… sooo good, I think about that scene from time to time and have to rewatch the clip on youtube.

  3. Oh mate…I was 5 in 1992, we either rented it on video or watched it on Sky Movies and I screamed the house down during the first five minutes haha. My thoughts on it later…phenomenal. Love it. It's a creepy film and I like the idea of "who's the freak?"
    Could be the best of the 1989-1997 era? And I love 1989 but this has something different and edgier.

  4. Returns is my absolute favorite Batman movie. DeVito's Penguin is still the one I think of first, the cinematography was phenomenal, it had this grim fairy tale vibe that no other Batman movie had. Loved it.

  5. I'll never forget riding our boards down to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore from the neighborhood I grew up in to go see Batman 89. It was me and my good friend Joe. It was opening day that Thursday and we skipped school to see the 12pm showing. This was better then going to see RoboCop. When the Batwing flies up into the moon was insane, everyone was standing up and cheering and clapping cause it was just brilliant,such a great scene. That movie was frickin awesome at the time of its arrival. On the verge on losing our childhood as a early teen, the awesome 80's were on their way out and everything in the world was changing dramatically for a city kid like me. Those were great times with friends and family it seems like a thousand years ago back then. Maybe when I die I can go back and live the 80's for eternity. LoudLove

  6. Shrek couldn't have been the number 1 son, unless Penguin was wrong when he said "I was their number 1 son, and they treated me like number 2". Also, it looks cool, but it always bothers me that the batsignal starts a sequence, so 1 shines into Wayne Manor- so much for "secret identity ".

  7. I’ve always wondered HOW the Red Triangle Circus Gang got the blueprints for the Batmobile and I had a feeling that Penguin did find out who his parents were and killed them in secret!
