Batman PUSHED to His LIMITS | Batman: Arkham City | Retrospective Review

Even before release of their first game Batman: Arkham Asylum, Rocksteady Studios couldn’t help but tease their plans for their ambitious sequel, Batman Arkham City. This game would take place within a quarantined zone of Gotham City, holding all of Batman’s worst enemies. This game would also act as more of an open world sandbox, allowing to Batman to glide freely around the city for the first time in the series. Rocksteady aimed to give fans the Batman game they’ve always wanted, and really pushed their limits to deliver on that goal. As a result, Batman Arkham City is held up as the best game in the series by many fans, and in this video, we’ll examine why, as well as whether its deserving of the title.

  1. So, in accordance with the retcon I tend to view it as it was indeed positive, but because of the stress of the Joker's death caused her to lose the baby. As messed. Up as it sounds, it would be a real possibility. I definitely believe the devs got cold feet as you put it, unsure of where to take it, but I feel like my personal head cannon makes it a little more satisfying for me. I hope it helps itch that same nerve for others.

  3. I enjoy your reviews and analysis of a lot of these comic book games especially the Arkham series. In fact this video is making me want to play Arkham Knight.

However, wholeheartedly disagree on Rocksteady's depiction of Tim Drake. I absolutely hate it. Tim is a great detective with even the potential to surpass Bruce, they didn't need to make him a cage fighter. I can't stand the fact that he's bald. He just looks extremely generic. And I do not like his costume design whatsoever. I get it, public opinion of Robin most likely isn't favorable as mainstream depictions mainly showed him as a joke, but I think if they would have stuck to how Tim is in the comics (not nowadays), he would have been completely fine.

That's honestly my biggest gripe with Rocksteady's Batman universe is their depiction of Tim in general and how they handled Batman's allies in Knight. Didn't like how Nightwing, Robin, & Catwoman (even Barbara) pretty much all becomes damsels in distress for Batman to have to come save as if they aren't capable of handling themselves against powerful supervillains.

Sorry for this sounding negative, like i said I love your retrospectives.

  4. Awesome! I've been waiting for you to release this retrospective ever since I found your other ones. I always feel like I learn so much about this game series by watching your videos, and I appreciate that your content isn't just endless praise but well-researched, deep-dive, behind-the-scenes (dare I say) documentaries. You, too, deserve a 10 out of 10!
I'm looking forward to your next video on Arkham Knight.

  5. Arkham Asylum and City were among the first X-Box 360 games I ever played, City took some to 100% and with its one of my most replayed games, Love your coverage as always and looking forward to future videos on Arkham Knight and what you think of Mark Hamil as Wolverine in X2 Wolverine's Revenge.
