Batman Begins Movie Review. Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale is one of the best superhero movies ever made. It follows Bruce Wayne’s journey to become the Batman we all know and love as he faces off against villains like Scarecrow and Ra’s al Ghul in order to save Gotham City. While it’s probably the most overlooked film in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, nearly every aspect of the filmmaking is top notch, and it’s impact on comic book movies can’t be overstated. All that being said, it’s not without its fair share of flaws. So, join me as I explain why Batman Begins is pretty great, with a few exceptions.

After rewatching this movie I think this movie should've had a solid 3 hour runtime. Bruce Wayne's story is really compelling and I love it, but no one else is given enough time to fully breathe. I like Gary Goldman as Gordon and would've liked a few more scenes with him, even if they're just plucked from Year One. The movie just breezes through him taking down Falcone, but I'd like to see a little bitore of how he's able to do it. Overall I wanted more scenes with Gotham and the effect Batman has on Gordon and vice versa as well as Gotham and I don't think an extra 40 minutes is asking too much from the audience but that's just me.
17:46 In defense of this scene I would agrue that Bruce's plan might have been to start the fire/ explosion forcing everyone to evacuate plus they are well train so they should be able to survive but the main problem with his plan is that the prisoner who was about to be executed wouldn't survive and the master would obviously attack him first before evacuating which really messes up his plan overall.

The point of starting the explosion in the temple wasn’t to kill people it was to create distraction so that he wouldn’t have to fight off so many other ninjas. Nolan’s Batman doesn’t attempt to kill anyone directly, however he understands that some may die indirectly as a result of his actions which he ultimately deems might be necessary in the moment.
Of your 4 issues 2 of them don't really bother me. That being his voice and his ambiguous no kill rule. Everyone's issue with his voice has always baffled me, there are several legitimate reasons for his voice to be like that, he doesn't want anyone to recognize his voice and he is trying to intimidate the people he is speaking to, which both worked for me. I understand that it could be seen as ridiculous and pull some people out of the movie but that depends on the person and is subjective, it didn't do that for me. If he spoke in his regular voice it would have been strange and likely would have led to people asking why he'd do that. Now as for his no kill rule, the particular gripes you have with it I think are just weaknesses in the plot that are difficult to translate to his character. These issues never bothers me though I hear it all the time. His initiation was a plot weakness, what is he supposed to do here, he won't just kill the guy, he can't just turn them down and not join the league knowing full well they will still go and destroy Gotham, he's gotta do something. What he does doesn't translate well to hid rule true, and I think if there had been a conversation with Alfred when he got back about how he had to do something to escape the league and they explore that through Alfred's point of view would have really alleviated this issue. As for him letting Ras die, I took it as the villain succumbing to death as a result of their own machinations. Then there is the fact that if he let's him live and even goes so far as to save him he has pretty much guaranteed that Ras will do this again. It isn't an issue for me until you look at the sequel to this Dark Knight when he is given an opportunity to let Joker die but saves him, yet this inconsistency could be chalked up to a more fundamental flaw within batman as in what does my no kill rule mean, and he genuinely doesn't know himself so he acts inconsistently but it's muddied by the fact batman himself through him off the tower, if he let him go like he did Ras it would be first degree murder black and white. I shrug my shoulders at it, it's an issue that could be explained by his character so i don't lose any sleep over it, this is a movie that deserves it's apologists and I'll be one of them. As for the other two issues the action, yeah its pretty bad and shows Nolan's inexperience, and the villain plot. The villain plot is the most deserving criticism I think that can be leveled against the movie since story is its goal rather than action. I think it simply all boils down to the fact that trying to create a realistic league of shadows is inherently difficult unto being impossible. I think Nolan did his best. But it's all going to circle back to why does this society exist within a realistic non comic book world and what do they do with their power? The only way I think it could have worked would be like an all powerful history altering secret society kinda like hydra but there's no way they could have nailed that within the confines of a single movie. Not to say hydra is objectively a better group antagonist, that's just the only way the league would have made sense I think. And their motivations for taking Bruce in would be difficult to understand if they were this powerful, why train someone who may end up opposing you with your own abilities as you said. The joker worked better simply because he's better grounded in reality like the world Nolan has made.
I never liked how Bale looked in the suit, especially the bulky cowl. His look and voice are just a hair too comical in such an earnest film. I did like the detachment and aloofness he gave Bruce Wayne. He wasn't emotionally invested in Wayne Manor or his father's company because that life died with his parents.

From what I've read somewhere the awfully shot action scenes were indeed intentional. to make it so you're seeing it from a criminals perspective. To that I say; why make the actor/stunt double go through training of a very rare martial art if we can't even admire it? That aside this is my favorite Nolan batman movie of the 3 without question.
