Barney and Loki terrified dogs now begin walking together No. 4 #rescuedogs #dogs

🐶 Janien’s Journal 🐶
Thank God it’s Friday which means it’s time for the next Barney and Loki post.
But firstly, I want to thank you all so much for the kind words and support after my post last week. I know I did go on a bit, and I am sure you all picked up that I was not too happy with … well quite a lot. Your kind words and just by hitting the like button has really pepped me, and actually I should say it has pepped all of us, so again thank you.
This blog, I want to address a few Barney and Loki comments I have seen made on these videos. Especially for those that have not been following their story from the beginning.
Chucky, Barney and Loki came into our Facility in May, they had some time to decompress, they were then taken to the RSPCA where Chucky remained, he is the boy’s father and was the only one actually microchipped. Barney and Loki came back to our Facility on 21 June 2024 and the rehabilitation began. They again had time to relax and settle in and be shown love, and slowly put weight on. But you cannot just leave dogs who are so scared to just sit in a kennel, they need to learn to trust humans again, they need to walk in the sunshine, but a dog that won’t walk on a lead needs to learn to, it’s not like you can just let them walk in the sunshine without a lead on.
We’ve been told we should have gotten professions in. Quite honestly that is such a rude comment, I don’t think you could get anyone more professional, or who knows how dogs tick then Dee. She has rehabbed so many dogs, dogs that have come in so aggressive where everyone, including dog trainers have said they are too far gone to be rehabilitated and yet Dee has done it and those dogs have gone on to live happy ‘friendly’ lives in homes, homes with even children in them. We did ask some dog trainers to help, but they … didn’t help.
A couple of people have mentioned the music is too loud. We play the radio, this is actually comforting to the animals, they hear the noise and they know they are not alone. The radio plays all kinds of music, yes some is loud, but most is just standard pop type music with talking as well. The animals need to become use to all noises or they will never be able to live a normal life out in the world and this is a way of making them familiar with ‘noise’.
I definitely want to address those ‘experts’ who say we are doing more harm then good, that we are traumatising these dogs, blah blah. It is easy to be an ‘armchair expert’ from your .. well armchair, but we are with these dogs 7 days a week, you are seeing a tiny snippet of a few walks with them, and it is amazing the progress we have seen from day one. Barney and Loki are loved by all the staff and volunteers and they know this.
Quite frankly, Barney and Loki are alive today only because of the hard work done by us, the extra mile everyone has gone to with them. Others did want to euthanise them.
Another comment was if we have had them for 7 months why are they like this, well these videos are from that long ago. I had prepared them for Dee to upload but she just hasn’t had the time or energy to get them up so that’s why I am now putting them up. I truly believe most of you want to see them, even if they are from quite a period before.
This is for the people actually reading this. I think a lot of the comments come from the people that just watch the videos and do not read the blog to go with them, so they don’t have the full story, or they just have not seen or read any of the past stories regarding Barney and Loki and have no concept of the full saga of them.
Also, with regard to Chucky and the RSPCA Investigation unfortunately once it becomes a RSPCA case we are not included in knowing the outcomes so we are sorry but we cannot update you on what has happened in that regard. That is no fault of the RSPCA that is obviously a legal matter and cannot be discussed with parties other than those involved.
I did see someone say we should make our videos into different playlists. Thank you for that and I have started to move and make up some playlists. I looked for some videos to put into playlists but realised that they were only ever on Facebook so I will see if I can put them onto YouTube so those of you that do not have Facebook can still see them, some are old but still good, like trips to The Farm which I know a lot of you will enjoy.
On a different topic, but a very depressing one, I just want to address the devastating news about the other Rescue that I discovered the other week that broke us all. Unfortunately, for legal reasons we do not want to be naming names of said ‘Rescue’ which is still operating, but I will tell you that we have not sent any animals to it since April 2024 and it is in the Sydney area. We would love to yell their name all over everything, but well we just want to move past that devastation.
Much love to you all and again, thank you for the support. (Facebook post is a longer rant sorry)

  1. Team Dee you are all doing an amazing job. It’s so tragic to see Barney and Loki so traumatised but in time…. With Patience and your love and care they will become better dog each day every week. I am waiting to shed some happy tears the day I see their tails go up and waving outwards. Have a beautiful weekend guys and I commend you all. 🐾🐾🐾❤

  2. This is so hard to watch, but even harder for you guys who are actually there witnessing it every day… you are all my hero’s🙏💕🐾 and to all the stupid armchair warriors – wind your necks in and actually take the time to watch the videos and read the blogs fully before you spill out your harmful and useless advice. 🙄

  3. I applaud you ladies on all the time and effort you are putting into these boys. I really hope it goes well. They are so shut down, so weakened, I can't believe they survived at all.
I do have a question; why walking in the gravel vs the grassy surface? They seem to do a little better on grass. Their pads might be very sore? Perhaps with yeast or candidia?

  4. The poor babies. You guys are working so hard to help them in such a limited timeframe and while they still have a long way to go, they've progressed so much! Keep up the fantastic work you do, these beautiful furbabies depend on you especially when everyone else has let them down so badly. ❤

  5. If I had a choice between taking advice from the armchair "experts" or Dee and the staff at the CCACF ummm who do think I would listen to. Dee and all the girls there, ignore the rubbish. You're all doing a great job. ❤❤

  6. i don't have FB and i am so excited to see the videos when you move them over to youtube!

you ladies (and gents?) do an AMAZING job with these animals. there are always going to be people who think they know a better way or have heard of a better way. but they don't live in your shoes. they don't work around the clock with these animals like you all do. please don't take any of their criticism to heart. you know you are doing everything you can an in a way that works for you with proven success.
keep up the amazing work you do!
you have so many supporters out here in your community! 💜

ps thanks for the playlists! that was a really great suggestion!

  7. Wow! The time and patience this takes is amazing. Dee and team, please don't take to heart any "advice" you might receive. I think of some of the dogs that went to Luke and some on from there who wouldn't still exist if you hadn't seen their value.
