  1. Jesus…that intro is overselling Bardsung on every single level. The best of all dungeon crawls? No. Not at all. We call it Boredsung. So repetitive, completetly off balance, the chapters are way too long and you will fight against the same monsters over and over again without any challenge at all. Not a good designed game, not even close. EDIT: The video is cut now!

  2. "Best of all the dungeon crawlers". 😳
I cannot believe what you are saying about the game.

The branching paths of the campaign are of different quality and if you "choose" the wrong path you will end up in fighting the same few (and often boring) monsters in consecutive chapters – and that multiple times in your campaign path.
Some chapters are consisting of repeating the same dungeons again and again for several hours without any Story events, often without gaining XP or relevant treaures – just for extending the play time.
Even though the simple mechanics and the fast dungeon Trips are fun to play for a while, the repetion and grind kills you sooner or later. I highly doubt that you have played more than a few chapters and hours and it's really sad to generate such a hype for a game that loses it all during the highly stretched campaign.

The Fables are completely broken in balance BY DESIGN and the Narrative Encounters have serious problems as well.

I wanted to love Bardsung but it in the end it is a disaster by purpose.

Check out my highly detailed review after 25 hours of gameplay with insights of the outstanding bad designed chapters, the Lack of monster variety and all the other repetitions. I also talked to the Designer and added some notes. You find the review at BGG, it can't be missed. 😉

  3. This is a minor nitpick but I think the consensus is that on camera hype intros seem out of place on this channel and will probably only cause contention. I’ve always liked how you folks dive straight into game footage and let the game speak for itself.

  4. Around the 1:45:00 point the nat 20 is an auto crit so the rat would have got a wound.
I think the odd push from the brutes was also missed.
I have the game but only played the once so far, I am curious to see where it goes.

  5. Thanks Bairnt, thats more like the Bardsung i was expecting. I did like seeing the combat play out with the pushes putting Heroes in line for a good thrashing from those Brutes…

  6. I think your first echo activation was correct. Place the echo token first on the starting tile. Next round move 1 area. Page 37: "If the token isnt on the playing area, place it on the entrance tile first."

  7. I ended up sticking magnet strips under my doors because they kept falling over. Badly designed.
There is a gap under the base which gives you room to fill them with something to add weight. That’s what I did, didn’t completely fix the issue but still better than what it was and they don’t fall as easily.

I don’t think the entry tile is one zone. You stepped off the stairs that’s one action, explored a corridor that’s two actions but then you moved again. So you took three actions instead of two.
You then counted the entry tile again as one zone and moved the other characters directly into another tile.

  8. Thank you so much for doing this. I got this game and after earing the rulebook is not that well made, and the game is kinda complicated, I kept pushing back my playtrhough. Seing your video gave me the push I needed to try it 🙂 . Also well done keeping the playthrough interesting and dynamic !

  9. Thank you for the play through. I’m hyped to give it a go. I here mix things about the game but I would like to try it myself and come up,with my own opinion. It seems like SFG really wants to make this game to work. I hope they continue supporting the game and resolve any glaring issues if any. Thanks again! Cheers!
