  1. The fact that the show was trying to make these people look delusional and self-destructive by constantly bringing up the owner’s housing issues is… really gross tbh. The concept could have WORKED if the staff was properly trained and the owner’s husband was ousted in favor of a real chef, and they would have likely made a lot of money back if they just kept the concept, but… no, paint the entire staff as living in a delusion because they’re passionate and attached to their workplace.

  2. i'm not gonna lie, you don't really cover this show. God knows theres plenty of episodes but you have like 4 videos total regarding bar rescue (including marriage rescue) and you can easily increase profit margins if you did more bar rescue coverage. speaking earnestly, its the only thing I subscribed to you for. I say ride the high but, to each their own.

  3. this is honestly just depressing. I hate this. I live in the area and would have loved to get drunk with a knockoff pirate. I have no reason to want to go to "corporate bar" more than any toher bar in the dc area

  4. "Corporate" is literally the worst possible thing he could've ever done to that bar. Like he's completely showing how little he actually knows the working class people. When normal people leave their jobs, they don't want to go to a bar that reminds them of their job. Does John think people get these shitty soul stealing jobs because we like being in that environment? Imagine being so damn rich that you can't see the problem with that concept.

  5. You know as a pirate actor in Florida i can explain some of the pirate way. Grog is really disgusting it was actually just used as a cleanish water source while out at sea i mean for them to actually stop drinking it they would wait for it to turn green. Yes we pirates take our jobs very serious and to be a pirate actor/worker it draws in the proper people to do the job(actors or ren fair people). Lastly it us very very hard to make money as a pirate outside of Florida its a miracle that they lasted that long. Also good on the owner fro shutting that corporate stuff down hopefully they got a nice clean base out of that corporate blandness to build an even better pirate bar.

  6. I used to watch this show every week. He would usually try to tie in the owners or bars history to the rebrand, I remember thinking this was such a weird and jarring episode even for this show. He truly seemed to hate these people.

  7. Your girlfriend literally looks like Aurora. This is the real sleeping beauty. I'm sorry but she is absolutely gorgeous.

Anyways, John putting people down for creating an adult space based in fantasy is so fucked. And it's so old to say that someone dressed up is akin to a child. They literally only think that cause they let kids dress up and then tell them they have to stop at a certain point just…because. The bar is unprofessional and even dangerous but there's literally nothing wrong with the concept of a…pirate. Bar. I argue, actually, that it makes a L O T of sense. Like a LOT. If it was more professional, I would LOVE to visit.

A lot of adults adore fantasy, and you'll find a lot of autistic and nerodivergent people love it, too, so that's a fantastic concept. John is insufferable. What is even the point of him, he wants to make every bar the exact same with no creativity. No wonder the owner is pissed, he's telling her to change the reason she created the bar in the first place. As you said, it's a large cooperation taking advantage of a small business. He's like the worst. He's an actual manchild. This episode is actually heartbreaking. Watching him rid the place of it's entire personality and gutting it and then MAKING IT A COOPERATE AND GRILL??? Fuck this guy, John is garbage. How do you expect to change the ENTIRE premise and make it the OPPOSITE and them to be…happy about it? Bro is delusional.

  8. Yeah episodes like that is where i draw the "he's the GR of bars" line.

At least gordan respects the owners vision for their business and just works on the inside problems vs jon thinking everything about a person's business is the reason for failing lol.

  9. It’s deranged to me that Jon thought he could make that change and any of the clearly passionate staff would stay. They’re performers. All you can do is teach them to be better bar workers while they perform.

Like how is Tracy supposed to keep her horrible soulless bar open (that no corporate worker would want to go to, mind you) when she has to hire entirely new staff because these people are enthusiasts and they’re not going to transition into classy bar workers. She needed someone with themed management experience, mixology training for her bartenders, and a real cook, not the worst rebrand I’ve ever seen with literally no other fixes except the new line cook.

This is one of those things that’s so frustrating and I think what sets kitchen nightmares apart from bar rescue. Jon only cares about profit and his very conservative viewpoint makes him believe he’s the only one who knows what’s right. Gordon is interested in highlighting the soul of the place and cares about what’s important to the owners because he’s not an idiot. He knows that people with no passion do bad work and bad work means a business fails anyway. Jon thinks that people only work for a paycheck and doesn’t consider the aspect of fulfillment.

  10. if john could have just given them like little pirate hats that you get for buying a drink and a discount to corporate buyers they would have gotten an enormous amount of business. corporate people like to feel like they’re wild and this would have been a fun ass place for them to go i’m sure. especially for company lunches and shit. john really fucked this one up, makes me think he had a pirate themed bar and it failed or he wanted one and someone told him it was stupid and not worth it. overall. mega fuck up on john’s part

  11. I feel sorry for the employees. I mean they know they're not running a great business, but the fact that most of them are kinda enjoying it and running it the best they can. I can't really find that much fault in it honestly.

  12. It’s weird seeing so many people defending the car owners. Sure I agree the corporate angle wasn’t the right one, but the nearly $1 Million in debt proves something needed to change. She had kids, debt isn’t just a you problem. If something were to happen to her and her husband, guess whose lives just got ruined, cause their parents wanted to play dress up. Passion and whimsy are great, but if it’s not working your bills getting paid is more important.

  13. the worst part is that even when he sucked tracy's passion and own interests out of her buissness he turned into a place tat wouldn't survive bc the buissness ppl can't escape their busy and stressfull work lives in a place LITERALLY called corporate. like, did he want it to fail?
