Bankstown Metro Conversion – What's Been Achieved In 2 Months?

Prompted by the news from Sydney Metro that Canterbury Station was the first station to have all its screen doors in completed. I thought it would be a good time now to check on progress of the conversions of the T3 Bankstown Line to the 3rd Stage of the Sydney Metro M1 Line.

  1. Test running of the Alstom Metropolis Car sets will begin in February 2025 on the Sydenham to Bankstown section according to the media reports. The Platform Screen Doors project installation it's running on time and it's Strange to see a rail line built with bricks and mortar that's heritage listed platforms with platform Screen Doors running driverless Metro trains next year in 2025.

  2. As someone who used Punchbowl station and walks past it every day, those PSDโ€™s have been there for about 2 weeks in the same place, nothingโ€™s happened. Iโ€™m probably wrong, but I think the platform is too curved for the PSDโ€™s. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. Hi Marty, thanks for the update on the Bankstown line progress. Interesting seeing all the changes there. Incidentally, has there been much progress made at Marrickville station? I favour that station a bit, due to previously living in Marrickville until mid 1981. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
