The SRT Red Line opened a year ago today. Bangkok’s newest urban rail line stretches from Bang Sue Grand Station to Rangsit. In this video I explore the Dark Red Line and explore the areas around the stations. There are stories of the line’s history, the local communities, the streets, the temples and the markets as well as some of the lesser known places along the routes. We end up at Bang Sue Grand Station where we take a look around the are and the station’s evolution through the decades. This video was edited from 3 separate videos that were uploaded in 2021. Enjoy!

Nice work Pat!
I have a house in lak SI. I will be there in 3 weeks. Is there anything new going on?
it is really an educational vid, good planning goes into making of this, thank you!
Another brilliant video,Pat. I live in Surrey,I miss so much about Bangkok. It remind me of my childhood.
My two most feared words: 'Phahonoyothin' and 'Ratchadaphisek' handled very adroitly.
I can say them now, but it took a bit of work.
Thank you, Pat these long videos are brilliant.
the trains there put the ones here in the UK to shame i enjoyed the vid
Enjoyed.
Thanks.
Excellent video pat. I'm a fan of your work & appreciate the efforts you put into making such videos like this one 👍
Going to have dinner and watch you
Not sure what to think about all this modern architecture, it's like they are building away all the charm and life and replace it with sterile effectiveness. Like you said where will all the vendors go? Street life is life in Thailand.
Love trains. Thanks
Thanks Pat for this Very Interesting Video Story and your Excellent Research again. 🙏
In 2010 I figured out how to get around on the sky train. My friends didn't trust me. Easy to read the signs and always someone to help. But many new lines now. I hope to return and explore. Great city. Thanks.
An amazing video. I love the detail you go into. Thanks Pat!
A few nice places in Rangsit. Shame the old German Country Place closed down. There is still a big Thai bar owned by the same people who own the Hillary Bars.
Any plans to do an episode concerning the Japanese influence on BKK?
Great video Pat as always. You refrain from commenting on the sustainability and benefits/practicality of the Bang Sue station and other outlying mass transit lines that now seem to go to all far flung areas of the sprawling city with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I fear BS station going to turn into yet another white elephant like that of Makkasan station. Hopefully one day trains will permitted to run into Vientiane in Lao and beyond up to Kunming, Beijing and Shanghai but at present it doesnt seem that likely.
Nice Content 😉👍❤️
Excellent, enjoyed it as always.
Hi, if we will be taking a sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, will we be booking via Bang sue already? Or Hua lamphong?
The typeface they chose for Bang Sue Grand Station is so bad. Someone please change it! @40:12
How do you dig up all this information and photos? Your research is unmatched Pat!
A masterpiece
Another great video!! It should have 100.000 views in my opinion, crappy channel as k*y*on* , thailand b*un*, bu*ingpa**ay or many others just sell low level sh*t..live love Thailand is not too bad, but this channel gives real information, history, etc 👏
My GF lives at the northern end of Klong nueng and we do this trip together quite often , such a great service 20 minutes from Rangsit to Bang Sue , last month we travelled by train to Hua Hin also great fun
Thank you. Your docs are incredible. I’ve been going to Thailand for 20 years, and my Thai wife and I have a home up in Nong Khai. I’ve learned so much enjoying your thoroughly researched videos.
Wish you continued success…
Interesting to see how the areas around these stations continue to develop. Looks so different to when I first arrived at Don Mueang in the 90s.
Lovely history I really appreciate all the research and hard work you put into these videos I stayed here before 300 thai baht for one month a two bed house
Sorry 3000 thai baht per month lol 😂
I appreciate all of the work (and time) it takes to get all of those establishing shots. How frequently do these trains run? I guess it's good to own a concrete company
This whole Bang Sue project has been going on for sometime, I understand it will handle much of the service that used to originate from Hua Lamphong?
Bang Sue ? I did ! Then I gave Aya a pat. 😃
Love this type of Videoblog. So different but so very entertaining and informative.
Two dud WWII bombs found buried when they started the construction of Grand Station. One defused another one exploded in the junk yard and took casualties.
Bang Sue Station was one among other strategic targets in WWII by the Allies.
This Red Line seems a bit of a White Elephant (and not an auspicious one). It's a huge rail line that to me appears to connect rather sparsly populated areas, and which also seems duplicative of the northern end of the Sukhumvit Skytrain line. Is this line really necessary…it doesn't even seem to interconnect with the BTS and MRT transit lines.
Amazing video as always. Thank you so much
Really cool historical information. The old photos that aline with your narrative is fantastic! The temples, the neighborhoods, the cats!!! Haha!! You are the best at Thailand historical information.
Keep them coming Pat, highly enjoyable, interesting and informative stuff, thanks for posting.
great video
Thai railway's are important to bbk and I wish I knew them
Pat always a joy watching the video, keep up the good work
