Baldur's Gate 3 – The Red Rider (Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Build #2)

“When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.”
—Revelation 6:3-4.

  1. So the second rider has descended upon us War. War never changes, only those start, and fight in it, and in the end of it its always the same, an ocean of blood…

  2. The fashion looks great! And I don’t often see Oathbreaker, I really like that (haven’t seen the video yet but this is from the description). Can’t wait to see the video, and I’m sure it’ll be a good one as usual

  3. Funny that you mentioned that you wished there was a smite that does necrotic damage, because there’s actually three mods on nexus that add that as a feature!
    First is called unholy smite
Second is called Beyond Divine Smite
And the third is called unholy oath breakers.

  4. I think for the choice of deity, Talos might make more sense than Tempus, as even though Talos isnt explicitly a war-oriented god, he represents chaotic, uncaring, and destructive forces of nature, which I think aligns thematically with a living embodiment of the apocalypse.

  5. The Red Knight (Deity) would been nice for a war build. She rides a horse too. Tempus would be a good fit though out of the selection. I see it as Tempus reshaping the world. Great build and I enjoyed the video.

  6. Hmm I don't know. This feels kind of samey to many GWM+Paladin builds. It's not bad but it highlights the biggest of my issues with this class: too many spells require concentration and make you choose between Smites and anything else. I fail to see concrete situations where Spirit Guardians, Crusader's Mantle, Compelled Duel, Crown of Madness are worth it against high damage Smites, which consequently end combat so fast that you don't need a concentration to pull through into a second or third turn, or even have enemies get any turn in.

What does make me curious to know if there is a build to make Oathbreaker feel like it's still good-aligned, as much as I dislike the alignment in D&D. I guess I don't understand enough of the lore behind divine spellcasting and Oaths to understand the relation most Paladins have towards their deities or towards concepts of morality/justice in general.

  7. Has anyone tried using that legendary staff Marksomething to boost draconic breath instead of the glaive, along with gemini gloves to inflict poisoned (disadvantae) on a huge number of targets? Same applies for poison spray at 3d12.

  8. I feel most of what you get from War Cleric you get from Blade Warlock due to how Extra Attack and Pact of the Blade Extra Attack interact in BG3. And you refresh your high level spell slots on short rest and can focus more on charisma (rather than strength and wisdom).
