You can really turn Lae Zael into a beast wielding 2-handed weapons. Massive damage with extra attacks at lvl 5 and 11.

I find it interesting that I'm following 3 people playing this game and each of them made a different decision regarding Astarion's subclass haha
My wife made him an Arcane Trickster because she likes magic in D&D and wanted people in her party to have spells, and she also needed someone to have some crowd control spells, since the other 2 casters in her team are divine casters (Shadowheart + her main char is a paladin) so they have mostly buffing, healing and protection spells
A brazilian streamer I follow made him an Assassin, because the first time he met Astarion, he tried to backstab his character, so he thought it was fitting
And now you made him a Thief xD
Also, about not knowing if anyone has Sleight of Hand….. Astarion is a rogue, so he should be proficient with thieves' tools, remember that
for the rogue… you need to use your bonus action to hide, so you can gain advantage; then use the action to attack with sneak attack.
I got my 2 Absolutists to fight the eagle thing and take some attention of my sneaky guy. Great playthough – I'm loving playing along!
