Baldur's Gate 3 – Ep. 05: Locket Up

Today, there’s trouble brewing, so we’re in for a Gut check or two.

Vengeance takes a toll, so sometimes it’s best to just locket up.

00:00:00 Chipping in.
00:07:03 Gut Check
00:15:25 Trouble brewing.
00:24:52 Regale me…
00:32:48 Locket up!
00:46:08 Not in the race.
00:54:51 A grueling process.
01:05:05 Outro & Special Thanks!

I’m not associated with Baldur’s Gate III or Larian in any way. I’m just some rando who likes to play cool new cRPGs, and sometimes ends up making videos about them. Neat!

  1. That paralyzed Thiefling in the storage, If you examine her, she have a paralysis debuff, If u cast lesser restoration or some spells that removes it, she can stand up again

  2. I'm a little surprised Astarion did poorly in the Raider's polling. It works out considering he mostly approves of selfish and evil choices.

Its interesting how much Gale, Shadowheart and Wyll have changed from early access. Wyll was the most good aligned of everyone and I got the implication it was more of a mask he wore than being genuine. Now only Astarion is all that evil and that says something when you have a Githyanki in the party.

  3. Just finished the game. Act III is pure trash, larian lied about upper city (there is no upper city), bugs fucking everywhere in questlines, no quest completions for some of them. No epilogues. 17k endings? No about 5 and that's it. Absolute bait and switch. My recommendation: wait 3 years for the "complete edition" a.k.a, the game they promised.
Last game I ever buy from these hacks.

  4. The attention to detail in this game is outstanding. The many resolutions to even minor encounters is remarkable, as is the lore and references to the older titles.

The voice acting is absolutely amazing, my favourite being Astarion, although Kae'zel, Kaylach and Shadowheart are also good. I find Gale boring nice, whereas Kaylach is infectiously nice. Wyll is a little to cocky for my tastes. I won't discuss the other 4(?) potential companions, due to spoilers.

Even the NPCs have excellent voice acting. No wonder the budget is so high. I recall the Solasta developers explaining why they couldn't afford to have more than 5 different voice sets for character creation. Ironically, that is one of the few weaknesses in BG3, the voices available for your character sre too similar. None suit a dwarf, barbarian or a similar gruff and tough character. But to give this game less thsn 10/10 would be churlish.

  5. This is a Larian game, the hoard becomes expansive fast.

Shrinking that horde into gold pieces is another matter. It was late in Act 1 before I found a vendor I could offload significantly with.

  6. I rewinded several times to catch all those tieflings names when you said it was an anagram and it def isn't, haha. Cal, Lia, Rolan =/= Lorroakan. That would have been a neat twist though.
