Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on Modern Warfare continues with the aftermath of the first phase of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2022 (https://youtu.be/yBZPE9o2gHU). Previously we talked about the build-up to the new stage of the Russo-Ukrainian War, how Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine continued, and covered events between February 24th and April 7th, as we saw how Ukraine managed to win the first phase of the war. This set up the second phase of the war – battle of Donbas. We covered the events of April of 2022 (https://youtu.be/K2N_fHKrWIg) including the sinking of the rocket cruiser Moskva – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvB2CPpdTMY, and how the conflict turned into the war of attrition in May (https://youtu.be/D-93q4GMFT0) and continued with Russia’s best month in June (https://youtu.be/SIm4mQihHdA). In the video dedicated to July – the 5th month of the war, we talked about the arrival of the HIMARS systems which strengthened Ukrainian positions and changed the war (https://youtu.be/WS0D0X8V6rg), while this video will focus on the events of August, as we will see how Russian logistics and manpower problems were worsened by the HIMARS strikes, the risk and intrigue around the Zaporizhia (Enerhodar) Nuclear Powerplant and the long expected beginning of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in Kherson (https://youtu.be/2hZoQ4xebGw). Previously we discussed the Kherson counteroffensive in the first 2 weeks of September and showed how the Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast – Balakliya-Izium counter-offensive succeeded, pushing the Russians across Oskil and Lyman (https://youtu.be/gJRjKuss_Co) In the second half of September, Ukraine liberated even more territory in Kherson (https://youtu.be/S7usqwT-ty4), while this video will talk about the events of the beginning of October, including the attack on the Crimean – Kerch bridge (https://youtu.be/i4gebic_Wnc). In the second half of October, positional and attritional warfare continued to dominate, still Ukraine managed to attack the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and the Grain Deal was almost cancelled (https://youtu.be/wUAzOsvaX7k), while in the beginning of November, Ukraine finally liberated Kherson (https://youtu.be/sYr5mTNljN8). In the second half of November, winter took over, making the military operation more difficult (https://youtu.be/8r0JfS6WTWs), while in the first half of December, the stalemate continued (https://youtu.be/OOpew0MbJtg). In the second half of December and first half of January, Russia advanced around Bakhmut, taking Soledar (https://youtu.be/TmpWByOr6JQ), while in the second half of January, Russian regained initiative counterattacking on the Kreminna axis and gaining ground around Bakhmut, while the West announced that Ukraine will finally receive Leopard 2, Challenger 2 and Abrams tanks alongside more armoured vehicles (https://youtu.be/eoIbUUPCkKg). Next we will talk about the possible Russian attack vectors and deduce what is the Russian plan for winter and spring of 2023 (https://youtu.be/oOGgRgWzElA). In the first half of February, Russia continued advancing around Bakhmut, but its Vuhledar attack ended in a disaster (https://youtu.be/uazg6o-c1U4), while in the second half the battles around Bakhmut continued and it continued to hold

  1. Maybe I’m in the minority here but I don’t care that the 73rd light infantry brigade attacked the 172nd armored and mobile strike vehicle brigade. Just say 42 Ukrainian infantry attacked and destroyed 7 Russian tanks. It would be a lot easier to follow

  2. A great video. I’m not sure the report of the uk pushing a negotiated settlement is credible, the uk tends to be at the forefront of providing aid to Ukraine and hates breaking stride with the US on foreign policy matters, plus there is no domestic appetite in the u, for a negotiated peace so far. Though the uk economy has taken a hammering over the last year so it’s possible the pm is losing his resolve.

  3. Lmao these guys are frkn barbarians with guns 😂 they shoot 60,000+ shells a DAY…. One year later they are all crying about lack of shells. This can’t be real 😂 😅 Maybe next time save the shells for military targets, not destroying entire cities ⭐️☠️

  4. China is basically trying to have its own cake and eat it. So it is supporting Russia as much as it can without risking Western sanctions. China's peace plan looks fine on the surface, but in reality all it does is solidify Russia's grips on the Ukrainian territory it currently occupies, while offering no guarantees that Russia won't simply reconstitute its forces before trying again in the future.

Any peace proposal that doesn't require the withdrawal of Russian forces back to the 2022 pre-invasion lines at the very least, only stands to benefit Russia while punishing Ukraine

  5. It's in China best economic interest to keep the war going as long as possible. They are getting cheap commodity's and they are paying for it using their printed Yuan.

  6. The Ukrainians are defending our western values as the Greeks did some 2500 years ago.

The battle of Bakhmut is the modern day battle of Thermopylae.

I hope and pray Ukrainians will be as victorious as the Greeks.

  8. They need to sweep up and then down. They’re expecting a full offensive near Mariupol. They won’t be able to hold it knowing they lost the entire north and are being flanked from all sides.

  10. I have discovered this channel three months ago, and it a was a good surprise for me. This is again a very good work. I must to say that the english-speaker youtube is better than french-speaker , you have less russian's trolls in comments than us !
Anyway, congratulation from France ! 🟦⬜🟥

  11. Denmark doesn't even get mentioned in the section where they talk about which countries have provided what to aid Ukraine.
yet another instance where the Danish provide a service and gets completely ignored when it comes to credit.
i wonder why we even bother.

  12. Awesome video! A little advice is to use terrain levels and rivers in analysis of the situation. West of Bakhmut Ukrainians occupy advantegeous heightsin Chasov Yar. In the eastern part of the city lays the Bakhmutka river and to the south of the city there is a foresty land where Ukrainians positions are. That is why it is unlikely that Bakhmut will be captured any time soon. Moreover, Ukrainians are preparing there a nasty surprise 😏

  13. With respect, I love that your videos generally feel very neutral in their nature, which is why I love watching the updates on the war here. However, one thing stood out to me in this video that feels to sway too far from the norm. It may have been worded poorly, so I wanted to explain and ask first. You mention: Ukraine ran a deficit of 38B$, with a note about hoping others will help pay it, and Russia ate 1/3 of their "budget," stating, "it does not seem sustainable."

I think both sides sound unsustainable here, especially with your comments about NATO possibly pressuring Ukraine to find peace and the inability of the west to continue funding in perpetuity. Altogether, your statement about budgets and the previous one mentioned feel balanced, but the statement about budgets alone does not. Is there more to the Russian budget issue than was provided in the video that makes it feel less sustainable than Ukraine's position, or is this an issue with the editing of the script/video that caused the imbalance to appear? Thanks 🙂

  14. I wouldn't cite CNN in this day and age but you do you I guess.

I also wouldn't call a decade of ethnic cleansing to be a lack of provocation either.

I don't support either faction and I'm particularly against handing a non ally an endless stream of resources while we languish in the US. But, if you care so strongly, maybe not write such obvious globalist propaganda.

  15. I do not think this war will end in 2023

But I do think that Ukraine has survived it already! No way Russia will take all of Ukraine anymore!

Now the question is: Can Ukraine take back all of its land before hopping into NATO?
