Back to the Future was our first requested Deep Dive for the month of March 2023, and I really loved revisiting it! I've seen this film dozens of times, but only now did I discover a lot of these details, and the deeper reason Marty and Doc are friends. What was your favorite new detail?
Loving this new channel and all the information you provide for films thank you and long may your passion continue
Been watching Eric’s videos for years and this was one of his best! Well done!
FOR BEING A DEEP DIVE YOU TOTALLY IGNORE THE ALL SEEING EYE, TERRORISTS, NUMEROUS 9-11 REFERENCES, TWIN PINE INTO LONE PINE
Hey Eric, good job love the new channel. I know you keep talking about secession, but what are your thoughts of doing a deep dive on the yellow jackets series?
3:08 wooooow!! I never picked up on the picture of the man hanging from the clock! This is why Voss and his team are the best at this stuff! 🤿👍🏼
Voss… it’s DENSITY not DESTINY 🤣
Butterfly effect has nothing to do with altering of futures it’s a quasi sudo theory on weather patterns?
ive always loved the clasics
I have another theory based on the clock tower scene. Doc Brown sets the alarm that goes off in the car based on the time described in the pamphlet of when the lightning struck the clock tower. However, Marty was delayed in taking off – the car stalls, delaying his start, which would normally mean he would be too late to meet up with the lightning.
Was this luck because the pamphlet was indicative only? Did Marty just drive quicker to reach the allotted time when lightning struck cable? Or maybe…
In the events leading up to the predetermined time, Doc Brown tripped reaching for the cable plug and hung off the hands of the tower clock to save himself. His weight would, you'd expect, alter the time shown on the hands, maybe enough so that the time recorded in the pamphlet is actually slower than the time set on the alarm clock in the car.
In other words, when the Doc set the time in the car, it was correct when matched to the tower, but once he altered the hands by hanging off them, the times were different; the clock tower would be slower than the car alarm.
So while the alarm clock was set to real-time, the tower clock was slow, allowing for the delay caused by Marty taking off. If Marty had actually taken off when the alarm went, he would have arrived too early based on the hands of the tower clock. Both the delay in taking off and the adjustment of time of the hands meant it was fate that Marty would arrive at the right time based on the pamphlet.
Damnit man. I just love this channel so much already
23:40 is, the pic of Ben Franklin looks a lot like the guy from that episode of the office, or, that guy really looks a lot like Ben Franklin.
👏🏿
Felix the cat clock was also broken.
YES!! Absolutely LOVED this breakdown. Still love this film, it is timeless. And your breakdown makes me appreciate it even more!!
Loved this. I've seen a few documentaries on BTTF but this deep dive is wonderful. Even learned a few things. Never noticed the twin pines vs lone pine sign change.
I'd love for yall to do a charlie kaufman film next! Adaptation has so much going on in it
This video was amazing 🤩
THIS TOTALLY KICKED ASS. We'll done Erik great movie my personal all time favorite. Glad you were able to break it down as such.
Annihilation would be really cool to see a deep dive on
Loved this! Now…when’s part 2 and 3 come out?
Love all your breakdowns Eric, you are a super smart and detailed guy, I noticed something you said in this video though, you said Marty saved the clock tower when he "redirected" the lightning, but I remember in back to the future II he is approached by a guy asking for money to fix the clock tower still in 2015, he said lightning stuck it 60 years prior. Just a minor thing I noticed, still gonna watch all your videos man, you're awesome because I learned some other things I didn't know about the movie and thought were very cool and interesting thank you!!!
This was amazing
Bravo Eric! This was brilliant and so well done. To date your best breakdown!
Absolutely great video! I love this new deep dive channel so much, it’s a great idea with great execution. Keep it up Eric and team!!!!
I love Eric and the whole team but this video feels a bit jumbled and hard to follow along with in the beginning.
18:00 it does make sense because technically George still had a chance to go with Loraine to the dance but when Marty came into the picture it was erasing that future timeline slowly because she changed her mind and went to docs to ask Marty to go to the dance.
Grandfather paradox.
Now make like a tree and get out of here
This is great!
Absolutely loved this. I was born in 1980 so I remember watching this when it first came out. One of my favourite franchises. Also I can’t believe how many extra Easter eggs you found and whether they are coincidences or not so many things that work parallel with each other in the film. Thank you so much for doing this video. I look forward to watching more. 😃
