  1. I don't have the money to buy a lot of games that I want so youtube is my primary source for impressions. My first encounter with Awaken Realms is when I accidentally stumbled upon Nemesis: Lockdown and MY GOD I WAS NEVER TEMPTED TO SELL MY KIDNEY LIKE THIS BEFORE

  2. I discovered another reason why CMONs latest campaigns have been so small…..resellers.
I was looking to possibly back Dune with The Game Steward since it would be a pledge already backed and I would be safe from possible shipping issues. I discovered that they didn’t back Dune or even Cyberpunk. They have always been a fairly big backers with previous campaigns and I know they had issues with Marvel Zombicide where even with their mark up it was still cheaper with them to the point they had to raise the price. They likely went from think it would be a money maker to lose big on it so now they seem to be very hesitant to back CMON campaigns

  3. Ok, but what does it matter who sell more board games? They all do business and thats what matters.

Personal funny thing is that i have backed cmon kickstaters many many times but i have only backed Awaken Realms kickstarters three times and i dont feel like backing their kickstarters anymore. I dont know if they still do it but they use to sell a lot of stuff but very cheap production.

  4. how could dune fail in comparison to tainted grail? One has superior gameplay? Could just be that. Dune looked good to me, but tainted grail looks better. IP is not necessarily "supposed" to do better than ALL other games. Tainted grail has superior reviews from what I've seen, and a different kind of game with a different type of market. You're comparing apples and lemons.

  5. Awaken Realms is amazing. Just really a very commendable company driven by passion and love of the game and community. I guess that’s the difference. CMON has been focusing more on financial gains. Not that their games are not good or well thought and developed, but their business approach and subpar community engagement is pushing more and more people away from them.
Plus VAT and shipping and all that. Awaken Realms is just way safer and provides a much more pleasant pledge manager experience…
I’m one of the 1$ backers of Dune. I’m interested, but I’m not feeling that bang for my buck, unfortunately. I’ll probably just wait for retail.

  6. Oh man, so many videos from You of how cmon is a scammer company, cmon is the worst etc. Get over it dude. They still have their fan base, they still earn a lot of money. If You or anyone else do not like them or their project/s just do not back them. I am not playing backing games just to get minis, so not a single Cmon KS appealed to me, only Ankh, but then again I canceled it 😀 but again it is getting anoying to see notifications again and again and again regarding how CMON is the worst..

  7. CMON shipping costs are ridiculous and clearly being used to generate another profit margin on top of their games cost. Why would anyone bother to back a CMON campaign where nearly half the cost is taxes & shipping. May as well just not bother backing and buy at retail or off Ebay.

  8. Well, CMON is taking the Blizzard route to the letter. They had a few really good and original games, made a huge fanbase, and they live off of that reputation ever since.
I think their first games like Arcadia quest and Rum & Bones were really genre-defining. But what did they do lately? Made a Dune game… made a Cthulhu game… made an Arcadia Quest in space game… and all of them with the same old dice mechanism: swords do damage, shields block damage, star does special. Which is fine… for a lighthearted game like arcadia. But it's not that good that I want to play it every single time with different set dressing.
So I wouldn't say AR killed CMON… their own laziness and lack of creativity killed them.

  9. One Problem. The original Tainted Grail campaign had 2 free 40 hour each stretch goal campaigns. This one so far just has the 1 campaign. The original is far better value for money at this point and this one is a ripoff unless it adds more campaigns as stretch goals.

  10. For many backers, it will come down to this:
    Awaken Realms – anytime
    CMON – never again!

(on a sidenote… 2 other relevant reasons why AR us diung so well on this campaign…. (1) VAT is included for EU backers (no 'hidden' charges lateron in PM), and (2) translations

  11. I was looking forward to backing CMON's Dune and Cyberpunk, but the thematic appeal of both games was just not there for me. The choice of art style for Dune is absolutely baffling to me. Long gone are the days of Death May Die or Trudvang.
