South Korea is in mourning following the deadliest ever aviation disaster in the country’s history. 179 people were killed Sunday when a Boeing 737-800 aircraft made a crash landing at Muan International airport, skidded off the runway and burst into flames. Only two people onboard survived. Aviation authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Some aviation experts are suggesting bird strikes made the pilot’s first attempted landing unsuccessful, subsequently leading to human error in the pilot’s attempt to land a second time.

The belly landing was probably accidental.
C'è la possibilità che hanno messo il pilota automatico e non abbia funzionato? Dato che ella cabina si percepisce che sono con le braccia alzate, come in protezione?
As the various reports about the aircraft that it veered prior to hitting that concrete wall, where did it veered, to the left or to the right? If it indeed it veered and tried steer the aircraft away from that concrete wall, well alas they failed in vain, may they all rest in peace.
It is 2025 now, shouldn't the computer on a cutting-edge plane be advanced enough to autonomously detect a damaged engine and instruct the pilot on which engine to shut down? If the pilot mistakenly shuts off the wrong engine, shouldn't the computer promptly issue a warning?
Incidents where pilots have erroneously shut down the incorrect engine, resulting in severe accidents, have repeated throughout history. Why haven't we learned from past mistakes, and why hasn't Boeing implemented designs to avert such tragedies from happening again?
"Pilot might've turned off 'wrong engine,'" By the same token, pilot may not have. Time to wait for facts?

what I dont understand is this is the only airport in the world which have a rock solid wall at the end of it, and idk maybe you dont want to make a hard landing but the runway should be long enough to stop, I mean theres no way in a emergency situation it would take the whole runway and overun at that insane speed, idk something seems off and why at that specific airport it happens I'm pretty sure planes have a emergency landing gear thing which drops the gear if it doesnt open and they didnt do it, idk its a very sad moment but idk the fact the plane was going that speed when landing with the gear not out and stuff idk
i wonder if two pilots on board or only one
my ask is why the plane was instructed to/decided to land from the other side. even if both engines were damaged, why didnt it land as per the planned approach.
If you look at the bird strike video carefully, it looks like both engine suffered strikes. Right engine went out with a big ruff of smoke. Then the left engine puff out smaller smoke.
Cheap airline cutting costs and probably the pilots were over worked and tired. And they probably freaked out acting too quickly.
Funny they ordered the inspection of aircraft but not the inspection of airports with concrete barriers at the end of the runway
Why is no one blaming the wall?
Due to bird strike in the right engine, the cockpit might have been engulfed in thick smoke, because of which one of the pilots may have fainted or passed away, under such a chaotic and panicky (life threatening smoke,) situation the other surviving pilot might have switched off the left engine by mistake, called Mayday, due to lack of time, could not or in confusion forgot to activate the flaps, the landing gear,reverse thrust,and requested for runway 19 to come from opp.direction to land, in haste missed almost half distance of the changed runway, the pilot would have worked with the right engine (which might have still worked although not in full efficiency) thinking that there is not much speed to enable landing, otherwise the plane might get stalled (for lack of speed) and fall,the pilot would have generated some speed (which became high speed) with the right engine, and only during landing he learnt that landing gear not deployed, however, with difficulty, he somehow managed belly landing, without knowing there is a wall at the end, which spoiled his plan as well as of the passengers. Flooding of smoke in the cockpit is the culprit, but finally main culprit is the wall

Why didn’t the aviation analysis mention that the Boeing 737 is among the most reliable aircraft in the world for decades? This model has proven its reliability since its introduction in 1967, with over 10,000 units produced and millions of successful flights completed without any major crashes or failures
The wall was a man made so it is to be looked and blamed. But also know that there sre other airports with far shorter runways facing either river or mountain wall or even other buildings as is built in the mid of the busiest city, not in Korea but in many other countries.
Bird strike alone doesn’t cause something like this but a wall at the end of the runway sure can. I personally cannot understand why that wall is there in the first place and the person who approve that should be in jail.
