  1. Zhong Zhong definitely has a lot of self hate and let’s it cloud his view of fire bending. He doesn’t see the positives any more after being so ashamed of what he’s done in the name of the fire nation.

  2. These two episodes really give Aang some much needed development and valuable lessons.
Jeong Jeong has a very negative outlook onto his own element since he is mentally scarred from the war. Every element can be bad if used in the wrong hands and/or not properly controlled.

  3. 21:07 Interesting. I never thought of it from a bible verse. I thought the tree looked like a bonsai tree and a bonsai tree represents peace and harmony. I thought when Avatar Roku sets it on fire was symbolism for the firenation disrupting the peace.

  4. The Deserter is a personal favorite of mine, I think it's the first episode, barring a couple lessons from the Uncle, that talks about the philosophy behind Bending in a way that viewers can understand it. Zhao makes a good counterpart to Aang, making him realize what his eagerness can cost him, beyond what he had already done to Katara.
