Communications Minister Michelle Rowland says 70 per cent of Australians are “concerned about the harmful effects of mis and disinformation.”
Ms Rowland said senior security personnel have warned about the threats from misinformation and disinformation.
“When you have senior security personnel warning that what is happening with mis and disinformation by these platforms – is a threat to our democracy and can actually undermine electoral integrity – that’s a problem,” she told Sky News Australia.
“When you have serious harms being manifested that’s a problem.
“We know that this has been a problem ever since it was identified by the ACCC in 2019 in its digital platforms report.
“Doing nothing is not an option here.”

I'm also very concerned about mis and disinformation. And the worst offender is the government. If covid didn't demonstrate to people that governments lie about everything, then I truly don't know what it takes.
the government and corps are the one telling all the disinformatiom they just dont u to be able to find out what there been up to so they say its disinformation or if u tell anyone what there doing well u have to be censored this only plays in there favour to censor us the people

Personally I do not want elected officials deciding on this matter. We should have a free media and hope they do their job and let the chips fall where they may.beyond that.

8:16 the difference between getting bullied on line and in the street/work/playground is you can just turn it off. You don’t have to go to the site and put up with people, you also don’t have to read any comments people make towards you, whereas in the physical world its hard to avoid that punch in the face, broken teeth are painful and costly, you are physically trapped in the environment. Kids can’t leave the class or school, you can’t just walk out on your job.
If kids you are expected to “just walk away” while someone is shouting abuse in your face or actively trying to beat your head in, then why is clicking the mouse to close a web browser such a difficult feat?

If it's miss information then all they need to do is respond with the correct information. Not hard to do we don't need laws for that
Just dont get all carried away and decide that non-physical harm can be interpreted in a questionable/woke personal interpretation, because not having freedom of speech particularly in regards to ones faith/religion can also be considered as a violation of ones liberty and freedom!
