Australian donated tanks will play a ‘major role’ in defending Ukraine's front line

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko is “grateful” for the donation of tanks to Ukraine which will play a “major role” in the country’s defence efforts.

The federal government has announced it will gift 49 Abrams tanks to Ukraine to aid in its conflict against Russia.

“We are very grateful to the Australian government,” Mr Myroshnychenko told Sky News Australia.

“The front line is over 1000 kilometres long – so the tanks will play a major role in helping us defend it.”

  1. Perfect timing Marles, just as Ukraine is down to it's last soldiers. They've lost you fool, they just can't announce America has lost ANOTHER war until after the elections

  3. We should remember that all our contributions to this war in Europe are made in the context of the Europeans continuing the punitive trade embargo they’ve inflicted on Australia for generations.

  6. Why don`t they don`t tell the truth we don`t own those Abrams they were traded in on the new ones they belong to America and were going to America for storage. Why would we send our tanks to America for storage if we owned the that`s just stupid. The US has just given Australia permission under their lethal weapons legislation to ship them to Ukraine at our cost instead of them being sent to storage in the US. Our government is just trying to pull a swifty to get the praise for it. Some need refurbishing, a lot of them are buggered and only good for parts. So the west keeps dumping their outdated trash to Ukraine claiming it as supporting them. It`s criminal to put anyone in those tanks if you haven`t already seen what happened to the one the US sent over. Same as the Leopard 1`s, Leopard 2`s and Challenger 2`s all rubbish all useless.

  7. The US calls the Russians genocidal in Ukraine despite, by their own reckoning, Russia having killed only 9,700 civilians. Compare that with the number Israel has killed in the last month and the US is refusing to call that a genocide. And on that subject they've yet to show us on dead Uighur in China in what they claim is a genocide now going on for 5 years!

  8. Ukrainians best defence/office are all sorts of drones. The Ukrainian civilians come up with funds for most of those, while government comes up with funds to keep infrastructure barely going. If countries like Australia actually wanted to help, they would send more drone parts. My home town in Ukraine has a volunteer engineer club that produces 200 drones per week.. Australia gives 49 drones? Come on guys… Thanks for the contribution but its bare minimum and long overdue, you can't ACTUALLY be proud of contributions like this.
