Aussies want ‘action' on climate change: Matt Thistlethwaite

Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says a number of Teal MP’s speaking out against Leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton’s climate target u-turn proves the Australian people want “action on climate change.”

Mr Thistlethwaite’s comments follow a number of independent MP’s voicing their disapproval of Peter Dutton’s decision to abandon Australia’s 2030 climate targets, prioritising the cost-of-living crisis instead.

“I think what it’s demonstrating is the Australian people want action on climate change,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News.

“That was evident from the results of the last election.

“They want a steady transition towards more renewables, and reducing emissions from fossil fuels, and that’s what our policies are all about.”

  1. If you want action on climate change stop buying China made products, if you want action on climate stop selling coal and gas to China and Japan. 50 GW of coal power capacity started construction in China in 2022, a more than 50% increase from 2021, with many projects newly permitted in 2022 and fast-tracked to construction. In 2022, 2 coal fired power stations were permitted every week in China. Australians need to stop listening to ALP drivel and get on top of the facts.

  2. In 2023 the US produced 12.9 million barrels of oil PER DAY. The highest oil production in history and 20% up on 2022. India is on track to double its coal consumption between now and 2030, and double that again before 2050.

When Australia gets to nett zero, what do these imbeciles think will happen to the weather ?

  5. We DO want to go back to the climate wars. Because they were never settled
All the left and elites did is just ignore the debate and moved on regardless. Just like how they are treating the vote on 'the voice'.

  7. The majority of Australians did not vote for action on climate change. The majority want clean reliable and affordable energy not this wasted unreliable, affordable wind and solar. Reducing emissions will not have any effect on climate change so stop saying renewable energy is action on climate change. Wind and solar are destruction of our natural environment and should be stopped.

  10. I don't know anyone who thinks we can "change the climate".
How did the last 10 Ice Ages end, with sea levels rising by 100 metres? Would that warming not have happened if Chris Bowen had fixed the cavemen's energy policy?
