My most anticipated headphone of the year is finally here. Words can not accurately describe how humbled and appreciative I am to Ryan for the opportunity to receive an early set of the headphone so that I can have the review ready in time for the official release, nor can they accurately describe how special this headphone is or what is it capable of. The Modhouse Audio Tungsten is a true marvel and overwhelming achievement in the headphone audiophile space, and I can not wait to share my thoughts about it with all of you. I hope you enjoy the video.

What is it with you guys and coffee?
If you ever get to try the topping A70 it would be good to hear your impressions.
Seems to deliver the power needed on paper and costs around USD 500 I think.
So glad to see more Tungsten reviews come in. You made me super impatient about my DS version! How would you compare these to the Susvara? On the amplifier front, could the Mjolnir 3 or a tube amp (Class A 5-6W at 20/50/150/300 ohms) paired with the Bifrost 2/64 drive them at all?
I'm planning on getting this amazing headphone, already mailed Ryan to see if my current system could possibly power properly this headphone. I'm currently running an Aune S17 headphone amp, which is amazing and it currently drives all my headphones really well, he told me that given the specs they could possibly run it well but I might not have enough headroom, so I'm thinking in getting either a topping A70 pro amp and pre-amping it with my aune to get that class A warmth or getting the new fosi audio ZA3 with a 48v power supply and maybe buying some sparkos labs op-amps and also pre-amping it with my aune to get maximum performance, maybe even getting two of them and running them as mono blocks and getting absolute insane performance relatively cheap on these.
I have had my pair of SS Tungsten for 6 months!
Astonishing how many times I say "astonishing" in this one. If you value your health, don't make a drinking game out of it.
My goodness… would really like to have one 😂
Great review. Thanks for giving new amp recommendation-FA10.
Yeah I'll be honest this review just sounds like straight shilling and I like your other videos. Small companies always seem to get way overhyped for what they actually deliver. Definitely waiting to hear from many others.
Very well done. You addressed all of my questions / concerns! Congrats to Ryan on this release.
Would the Aune S17Pro have enough power?
you mean sound signature is top tier but its not the best headphone out there
so should i get that headphone instead of utopia
Great and through review from a real world perspective sir!!! I am looking forward to getting one of these and your suggestion of the FLUX FA10 was a new one for me!! Thanks!! I was on the lookout for a Ferrum Orr, but 16 W of Class A for $800 is too good to pass up in the meantime. I alrady own an IFI Can Pro Signature that sounds AMAZING, but I dont think the 23V will be enough for the Tungsten…
I want to go even more bonkers but on a budget… Double-sided Tungsten, powering each channel separately with dual Fosi Audio ZA3's in monoblock mode, rolling op-amps, dual 48V GaN power supplies, tube preamp and a good DAC – probably R2R, like a Denafrips Enyo. It's definitely going to take a while to save for, but worth it!
Soncoz SGP1 will be better than Ferrum Oor+Hypsos. SGP1 will have much deeper bass with better control in all frequencies. And it costs only $1100.
If it gets loud enough, it’s powered enough.
Great review, I really do want one but might hold off for a Tungsten V2, I picked up a Arya Stealth on sale about a year ago and I'm happy with it.
Please compare to specific other headphones. Susvara? Empyrean II? 1000V2?
Wow. What you driving it with? I can really feel the emotions you're experiencing. You've conveyed everything perfectly and can hear the excitment in your voice. I love it. Thank you.
Subjective hyperbolic views aside, before I consider it I want to see the measurements and specs by a third party preferably done with a 5128, but i'm interested
Could someone enlighten me, please? Ohm’s law is ohm’s law. You can’t defeat that. You can’t divorce watts (the typical word behind a reviewer’s word “power”) and voltage. Watts, voltage, amps.
I know the Fosi cannot push 15amps at 48v but if it could, we’re talking 720 watts. I know it can’t push that much. But my point is this, why are reviewers saying you don’t need power (watts), you need voltage? Just get an amp that can push 32 watts (stereo) into a 150ohm load. This would typically be around 800-1000 watts into 4ohms. Why 32 watts stereo? It gives you 6db of headroom to the DS version of to the Tungstens. 121db altogether. 105db peaks A-weighted, 115db peaks c-weighted, 6db of headroom.
The cheapest option that comes to mind is a Buckeye Ncx-500 stereo. Or if you want American, a pair of Schiit Tyrs.
Can the Ferrum Erco and Hypsos power this headphone?
Geez, you make me want to buy one now! 🙂 Have you heard the 1266 TC? If so, I was wondering how you would compare this to that planar, from memory.
