In this episode a man goes on an adventure to find his father only to end up becoming his own grandfather
1:01
The debut of Meta Knight's face!
Sir Metaknight didn't do my favorite attack. Sadly.
All the Poyos. Kirby finally squares off with enigmatic Meta Knight. In what would be a series staple, its a duel where he needs to use the Sword ability. Kirby is nearing the home stretch of his great Adventure. The Rainbow Resort, where the Dream Fountain awaits him.
Guess I shouldn't be shocked at beating Meta Knight first try, but he got harder in later games
What the crap happened there with Bugzy? o.O
The Kirb-adventure goes on!
0:15 – 0:24 – The Kirby origin of 'Taking up the sword'!
13:08 – 13:41 – Just thought of gems here.
In the mini boss rush level there is a hidden door at the beginning of the stage (before you go into the 1st door)
this will give you a harder version of the level with a bunch of 1ups at the end
I heard a thought about Meta Knight's fight with Kirby in this game and have always liked it: it noted how much less aggressive he is compared to other games where you fight him, leading to a theory of that maybe Meta Knight is more training or sparring with Kirby rather than it being a real fight
Death count: 9 [27] (2 today)
Flawless victory count: 12 [20] (3 today: Frosty, Bonkers, Fire Lion)
(0:07) Yeah, that "boss killer" isn't gonna work on this boss.
(0:14) Alright, it's boss time, vs. Meta Knight! And, you're forced to take the sword. (However, you cannot lose this Sword via damage, and after the battle, you revert back to the ability you had prior to the fight, if you had any. Otherwise, you revert to "Normal". You don't get to keep the Sword, unless you already had Sword coming in.)
(0:23) It takes 12 successful hits to defeat Meta Knight, but he will sometimes parry your attacks. Meanwhile, he only has to hit you 6 times (if you started at full health).
(0:58) Narrow victory! Nice job winning on the first try!
(1:26) And, you're back to your "boss killer" Laser now.
(1:42) Heh, the game wants you to use Laser to start off 7-1 anyway.
(2:03) For some reason, the laser can only reflect a maximum of 3 times. Perhaps that's to prevent infinite loops in rooms that have 4 angled corners.
(2:17) DOUBLE KILL!!
(2:44) This room's fun to bust all the star blocks in. It also has secret breakable blue tiles too.
(3:56) Don't worry. There's no breakable blocks that lead to a pit here.
(4:09) After you've broken a certain amount of blocks in this room, the little delay from breaking blocks stops occurring for some reason.
(4:43) The final two blocks before the top door are strong blocks. Fortunately, this room does provide Fireball. (Hammer, Stone, Wheel, and UFO can also work if you happen to have them.)
(5:17) BURNINATE!
(5:19) Push!
(6:21) Final Crane Fever in the game, and this one's difficulty is level 2, which causes the claw to move to the right faster when you press A. I wouldn't blame you for going after only small Kirbys now. (At level 3, it moves crazy fast, and is very difficult to aim at even the small Kirby.)
(6:28–6:38) Woo, got the big Kirby anyway! Nice!
(6:52) Uh, oh. The little Kirby is wiggling…
(6:55) Aw, it didn't hold. At least you got the big Kirby once.
(7:12) Fun fact: I didn't know about this for quite some time, but there's a secret entrance at the top-center of the starting screen of 7-2, above the normal door. If you enter that, you fight a set of mid-bosses which move faster than usual, and then you're rewarded with I think five 1-ups.
(7:38) Yes, Poppy gives Crash, which can be used to one-shot the next mid-boss. I'm disappointed you didn't take it.
(7:49) Fun fact: The door leading out of the clock mid-boss's room here is already open. You can skip him if you want! However, beating him gives you Mike, which two-shots the next mid-boss, and can deal some damage to the one after that.
(8:27) Oh, poor Frosty…
(8:57) Ha! Freeze was just as effective as Spark against Bonkers!
(9:58) Throw can be highly effective against mid-bosses if you can grab one of their stars/mooks and hit them with it.
(10:06) Aw, I would've tried to use Throw on Bugzzy's little bugs.
(10:20) Wait, what? …WHAT?!?! You can pass harmlessly through Bugzzy's grapple attempt if your mouth is full of something?! Wow, I never knew that!
(10:47) Toasty! There's today's first death. You cannot use Throw or Back Drop to grab a boss directly, but it's super useful if you grab one of the stars/mooks that a boss deploys.
(11:23) Flawless victory revenge!
(11:27) And, for some reason, the Grand Wheelie mid-boss is not part of this gauntlet in 7-2, though you do face him in a later world 7 level. I'm not sure why they decided to do that.
(11:36) LOL, nice one. So, uhh… that's a hole.
(13:07) Fun fact: It's possible to softlock yourself in this room, by moving into the angled platforms on the sides just right, because their collision can be a tad glitchy. (It's not a true softlock if you've already cleared 7-3 though, since you can then just pause+exit.)
(13:43) Meta Knight is not a sore loser, and will still provide you with an invincibility lollipop here. Oh, and you can just double-tap dash through this entire room, as you'll successfully run over all of the gaps, including the 2-tile wide ones.
Ooh, Meta Knight. He had enough of his knights getting poyo'd and took on Kirby himself. And the masked mystery man was just as honorable as he ever was in this game, offering a sword-crossing battle. Wonder if you can refuse to take sword in hand and "FIGHT ME!"?
Ah, we reach an R level. That makes
V I B G Y O R
…
Ah, it was here where THAT began. POYO PRISM POWER!
10:49 XD. Had to try it.
Watching Naka struggle the boss tower is so fun and mostly for his style of being so scared/defensive style.
