This recording comes from a recently-(re)discovered box of some 40 CDs of home studio sessions.
One of the CDs is titled ‘After The Fire’, and the videos prefixed AFT are from this disc. The sleeve notes say these were recorded between December 1998 and February 1999.
This is a song that I have very little recollection of. It obviously deals with a stale/stagnant relationship, with at least one of the protagonsists sorrowful about that state of affairs.
I wish I had proper vocals on these, instead of guide vocals. There are some obvious between-song cuts on several of the CDs, indicating the better takes were removed, either to serve as masters [sic], or for further overdubbing. Without a TARDIS, we’ll never know.

As with the rest of these CD-to-camera-via-speakers videos, it is, sadly, a compressed recording – the only way to make these videos, due to my illness progressing rapidly these last few weeks, is to play the CD, and point the mono 2K camera in roughly the middle of the room. The seperation one hears direct from the speakers is about 50% lost, sadly. But it’s a case of 50% lost, or 100% lost.
The videos, due to the recording necessities, tend to be either the wall, or a picture, or the ceiling – or in this case, some of my books. If you want to make your own video using the song, be my guest. The picture behind the books, by the way, is an artwork created by Dylan when he was just 4. So talented. He’s 9 now, get your comissions in early!

As mentioned, the lyrics to some of the songs from these CDs do, thankfully, exist. My song lyrics, should you care to investigate them further, are presented in 4 books of such (details below, two of them constitute the ‘video’ element); if you do go to Amazon and purchase any of my comedy, childrens or poetry/lyric titles, thank you with extreme gratitude for that, because all royalties go to my beautiful children, Dylan and Emily Jade.
Please feel free to share this video with anyone with my blessing, my channel is not monetised, and the only ads are on the cover version songs, placed by the rights holders in exchange for letting me use the music.
Love and peace,
Paul M
