It’s a good, kind-hearted science fiction film shot many years ago does not stand out for its dynamic plot, but despite numerous scientific inaccuracies, it is interesting to watch and keeps the tension until the last seconds.

bruh i thought the ending was the first half
Saw this movie so many times, it's one of my all time favorite sci-fi movies. New movies can't even hope to come close.
If the supposed "FACE" as it said to be is actually a monument and not just our imagination. Based on the fact that one can see it from thousand's and thousands of mile's away. It would have be larger than the entire Rocky Mountain's area. And not at all visible form Mars it self.

The soundtrack of the film is composed by Ennio Morricone, the same composer who did the soundtrack for The Good the Bad and the Ugly , Nuovo Cinema Paradiso , and Hateful Eight among many others. The last segment of one of the tracks for this film called "Where" that plays at the scenes shown in 9:18 – 9:40 is absolutely glorious.

I watched the movie long back. It's very interesting creating curiosity regarding space exploration. A good movie like Interstellar.

I remembered watching this movie in the theatre back then. When the movie about to end and the revelation about the alien as the ancestors of human was told, I saw the "WTF reaction" of most of the audience in the theatre in disbelief of how stupid and absurd of the ending of this movie, that I SAW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY LEAVING the theatre, before the movie ends, in disgust at being duped in the ending. I too left soon after, having the same feeling as them.
well the other harsh ending is he is being send to another galaxie to be dinner for the aliens…..thats the harsh truth
The chance to explore a different galaxy, a different alien civilization, the chance to bang a cute alien? I'd stay on the spaceship…
The only thing that would have made the ending better is = Jim is in the alien space ship…and it starts to fill with water = the aliens were actually amphibious! Jim is drowning in the space ship as it streaks by his friends….and they salute his voyage, not realizing that Jim has just died from drowning!
THAT would have been original!
