Why are they concerned now? They were pretty loud about driving controversy just a few months ago, not accepting any talk of an African in Japan for a year not being the equal of samurai who had trained their whole lives. Who needs assassins in an assassin's creed game anyway?

As for the poster, I think it's just a bad poster and nit that they were trying to hide the black guy because the Japanese girl who you can also play as got basically the same treatment and if they were trying to hide him they would have made her more prominent. I think whoever made the poster is just bad at their job.
This is going to fail so bad, that is going to be more entertaining that any game that Ubisoft has released in years.
