US President Joe Biden has commented on rebel forces overthrowing the “brutal authoritarian” Bashar al-Assad regime.
“At long last the Assad regime has fallen,” Mr Biden said during a media conference.
“This regime brutalised and tortured and killed nearly hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians.
“It’s a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria – to build a better future for their proud country.”
