I think lvl up 5e counterspell is a nice compromise. When you are countered you can use a reaction and cast a spell with a lower level. It also does counter automatically only spells lower then itself.
If you had Lair-con in southeastern Wisconsin, i could literally get you 5 to 10+ Gamemasters ( including me ).
These game masters can run D&D 5e , D&D 4e , D&D 3.5e , Pathfinder 2e , Pathfinder 1e , Call of Cthulhu 7e , Vampire the Masquerade 20th anniversary edition & etc.
For the "into the fey" books.
You can simply say they are 1st printings / 1st editions.
That way people know they are early runs and they gain value by being a 1st printing & 1st edition.
Thanks for the talk on mixing live and remote play. We have a couple that recently moved but want to continue playing. We've tried twice and so far it hasn't really worked.
I have a player in my long-running game with Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments, and there's a workaround. The item has a set time it takes to paint a surface of a given size- and it's minutes to hours. So if my PCs start trying to paint doorways through dungeon walls, they best be quick or something will catch them in the middle of their art session.
I don't know why I never considered the "side kick" or summoned creatures to count towards the party's size and thus increase the difficulty because of that. It just never crossed my mind that NPCs should count towards party size.

In regards to mixed temote and in person, i agree. Very hard to do. We've tried this at work, and it just doesn't work well. Better to do one or three other.

Counterspell is a grreat spell that is ABUSED due to the fact that most gamers run with 4-5 players who are ALL CASTERS!! too much magic ia horrible game experience. if eveyrone is us9ng magic, there is nothing MAGICAL about it,. its just another mechanic.
Re: flavored dice; I've actuality been getting ads on Facebook for these butterscotch dice. Theyre actual butterscotch candies that are shaped as a set of dice 🤷
