  1. Hey John! I did see someone using your videos on TikTok as their own content. I reported it but I think it’s still up. Please let me know if you want me to send it to you. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the trip!

  2. do you think distant relatives can apply for a visa? My aunt's sister-in-law lives in Japan and is married to a Japanese. I'm hoping i can apply for a visa for my family to visit her.

  3. Greetings from sunny Tucson Arizona. Thank you for this wonderful video and good luck on your upcoming trip. I've been a subscriber to your videos for the Last 3- 4 years. I hope to travel to Japan in 2024 on a tour and cruise. I agree that you should see the obligatory sites, but need to see something different. I would love to see the wine country in Yamanashi Prefecture. Do you have any suggestions. Also, do you have any plans to cover this area. I did see a video in the past by NHK.
Thanks again for all you do.

  7. Suppose I work in a Japanese company in which I am the only one rejecting all raw meat (sushi included) as well as alcohol. How should I not lose face when dining out together?

  8. I would watch your vids anytime, I really like what you do

But I would never travel with you, haha. You criticise him for having a big luggage and more underwear, haha
How and what he brings is his problem. 😂Really,

  10. its so great to have youtuber like John who is so real and honest. I always listen to all these anytime. I wouldn't listen to other japanese Youtubers though, cuz I know they can never be honest and open like John, so there is no point of watching if its all fake and up for the show.

  11. 17:28 So true. It happened to me also. I realized life can't be mapped out on how I wanted it to be but just by doing something to get somewhere and I would land on something that actually suits me better than what I thought I knew.

  12. John, why is Japan having a massive Covid spike in numbers during their Summer? It's a increase of numbers unlike any before. And what I have noticed is what happens in Japan ends up happening in Australia. That old butterfly flapping it's wings effect. Also maybe can you do a video on the 'Lonely Death' issues in Japan. I'm seeing that as a very trending topic on YouTube.

  13. I usually missed the actual LIVE streams for some reason, but always love catching them later on. Great content…so t/y. 😌

I wanted to comment to the person who asked the question about how Americans could come to live in JP… as in what jobs they could have that would kinda sponsor them to stay indefinitely; outside of teaching.

I came to JP in 2016 to visit friends stationed here; Okinawa specifically. I loved it SO much that I decided to find a way to stay past the 90 day time limit.

I ended up getting a job on one of the military bases on Okinawa island. Many base jobs will sponsor you with what is is called, SOFA Status. (Status of Forces Agreement) It’s specifically for American military or civilians.

You DON’T necessarily have to be affiliated with the U.S. military to get one of these jobs, but it helps a lot if you are. I think it moves the background checks along quicker if youre already military affiliated in some capacity.

As for me, I’m a U.S. Air Force veteran, so I kinda had one foot in the door already & had a hiring preference assigned to me. BUT, that just made it easier & quicker for me; NOT a requirement.

I knew I wanted to stay in JP pretty much from the start. I was stationed at Misawa Air Base in the late 90’s when I was active duty & absolutely fell in love with Japan, the people, and the culture. But had to go back to states 3 yrs later… and stayed in America for the next 16 or so yrs before I was able to return.

Granted, Okinawa is a lil differnt than mainland JP, but still JP & BEAUTIFUL. Plus, I can pretty much visit the mainland anytime I want. Kinda was a NO BRAINER for me.

Anyway, there are several U.S. military bases on Okinawa as well as mainland. So, if anyone wants to try that route, check out available jobs on USAJOBS site to see what is available here.

Kinda tricky with COVID right now. Most places will hire candidates ALREADY here in JP, but things could change rapidly and might get easier; especially if you have any special skills the bases are looking for.

Ok. Just wanted to give a lil advice on job ideas. Good luck to anyone wanting to come and live in this beautiful country. Was one of the BEST decisions I ever made. Okinawa is my new “forever home!” 💚💙

Hope to catch the next livestream…🤞
