Ariana Grande – eternal sunshine ALBUM REVIEW

A mostly pleasant batch of songs tied together by a not-as-pleasant narrative.

  1. I don't think the album really has much to do about Ethan (besides the boy is mine, and maybe yes and). To me its more much more about her understanding and coming to terms with her previous relationships. The 'Saturn Returning' thing is what she sees as her sign to start to understand things like she doesn't have to hate all of her exes, she doesn't have to forget about their memories, etc.

  2. arianas song “the boy is mine” (the original is one of my all time favs btw) is not a reimagining of the og song by brandy and monica but rather a reimagining of one of her leaked songs that went viral called “fantasize”(at least according to her in an interview) also i think it’s an important song because it proceeds the sentiment/narrative depicted in the previous song “true story”. a song in which she talks about the world painting her in a certain way and running with a story that isnt based in reality—an untrue story based on untrue events. “the boy is mine” is her playing into the role that public perception bestowed upon her of ‘the homewrecker’. it doesnt need a monica because in reality there isnt one (also thats just my interpretation of it, everyones entitled to their own)

  3. another nerd who talks like he knows everything. music can't be explained like this. you don't know what's really behind a song… it's one thing to have an opinion, it's another to make judgments. furthermore, this rating reflects your poor judgement… analyzing it, it’s the most concise and structured album in her entire discography, and the lyrics are much more evolved and refined.

  4. I thought it was kinda meh to be honest. The part that got leaked was more catchy than anything on this album. I listened to it once and didn't go back for a 2nd listen on any of the songs because none of them were all that appealing. Maybe a few more listens in I would start to like it but theres so many artists who make music that I love immediately

  5. The two tracks off it that she performed on SNL have def grown on me, but that might be the brilliance of how those performances were put together, as a whole. I love “Imperfect for You” – it some how feels light and still has some weight. The vocal choices, with the minor additions are very interesting and make the song a stand out, to me. I think for Ariana in general, this one is refreshingly different. I’m not blown away by this album, but I don’t think this project was ever meant to be a huge, impressive moment in her catalogue.

Think about it: She’s been filming what will be a huge movie event, other projects outside of music, etc. she’s been busy doing other things- this album was like a gift to her fans, knowing they’ve been salivating for something new. This was like “Okay here’s a snack, to hold you over”
