๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ณ๐ด๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ญ was a scheduled international passenger flight from Kabul to London with intermediate stops in Kandahar, Beirut, Istanbul and Frankfurt. The flight was being operated by a Boeing 727 (Reg. YA-FAR) on ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฑ, ๐ญ๐ต๐ฒ๐ต.
The plane departed Frankfurt at 00:36 UTC. After contacting London Airways at 01:13 the crew learned that runway 27 was in use at Gatwick and that the RVR was 100 metres. The plane called Gatwick Approach at 01:27. At 01:31, about 8 miles from touchdown the captain informed ATC that the plane was established on the ILS localiser. After intercepting the glideslope the descent from 2,000 feet was started. At that point a โstabilizer out of trimโ warning light illuminated. The engineer warned the captain who then saw that the autopilot was trimming the planeโs nose-down. The captain then disconnected the autopilot and re-trimmed the plane slightly nose-up.
The plane crossed the ILS outer marker on the glide slope at 01:33 and the captain called for 30ยฐ flap. As the flaps extended the rate of descent increased and the plane began to go below the glide-slope.ย After the co-pilot called at 400 feet, the captain tried to trim the planeโs nose-up.ย Both pilots then pulled back on the control column and at the same time the captain applied full power.ย The plane continued to descend and seconds later collided with tree trunks. This impact removed part of the starboard wing and the plane began to roll to the right. The plane struck the ground and momentarily became airborne again before colliding with a house and disintegrating.
๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ:
โThe accident was the result of the commander inadvertently allowing the aircraft to descend below the glide slope during the final stage of an approach to land until it was too low for recovery to be effected.โ
How can I get a copy of this footage? My dad was a fireman on the scene and might be in the opening couple of shots.
