  1. Great video, also btw you can change your character to be female if youd like in customization settings im pretty sure! P.S, next time you melee from behind like what you did here: 33:29 , keep HOLDING the melee button and you can do a cool execution animation

  2. Oh yeah. This is the one I've been waiting for. I grew up playing Halo CE, 2, and 3 – borrowing the first two from my friends to play on my Xbox (and also sneakily playing Halo CE on the school computers at lunchtimes), and playing 3's splitscreen multiplayer at my local youth club. Strangely, I never really got to play this one properly (probably played a match or two at some point) until much more recently, when my friends and I did a run through of every campaign in the Master Chief Collection.

Now, I don't want to unduly colour your perceptions of the series here, so feel free to take this with a pinch of salt… but despite not having any of the same fond childhood memories of this game that I do for the first 3 games – this one might just be my favourite of the whole bunch. Just the right balance of smooth, modernised gameplay (thanks to all the new weapons, vehicles, and abilities they added here) and the old school style that the originals three halo games have. Add this masterful story on top of it and you've really got something special.

This is also the last of Bungie's Halo games, before 343i took the reigns for the series. I do still think the later games are fun, but there's something about Bungie's entries in the series that really do it for me compared to 343's work.

  3. 26:12 and on lengendary this sector its a nightmare xD and also so far was the halo that on lengendary has the most resistent hunters i had to deal with, not even rockets can take them down unless you shot like 6 rocket's worth of ammo xD and with ally's ridiculous nerf to their damage giving them the rocket launcher to deal with the hunter as i play bait wouldn't work xd

  4. Edit: This ran long so there are only two facts this time around, sorry.

Oh boy, my second favorite Halo title. Now, I must be clear, there are topics or aspects that others might treat as .factoids But I assure you, all my facts are proven and stated. However, this game is heavy, and as such, so might these facts be. I will have fan and lighter facts, but Halo is naturally light grimdark. There must always be darkness for the light to bloom. So anyway with all of that out of the way. This is a game I have back logged facts for. There is a juicy bounty of knowledge I possess, and now it shall be yours to bare proudly. This whole thing might be a junky, crowded, convoluted wall of text. So I am really sorry, but The Spartan-3s are my favorite subject in the entire Halo universe. I tried my best to convey the lore as detailed as possible, while still being readable. Their will be plenty of lore for this series, but I tried to cover the basics first.

Fact 1. This game was Bungie’s final Halo title, and intended to be a middle finger to the Halo author: Eric Nylund. Bungie had a hate streak for anything Halo not of their creation. Eric Nylund wrote several novels for Halo, his first was: The fall of Reach. It was everything leading up to the first Halo game. This book is the grounding for the lore as it is. But due to a contract with Microsoft, Bungie didn’t get a say on books or external media outside of the games. But they stifled what they could, and this game was a last F U to mister Nylund, and threw a spanner in the lore. The description of the Pilot helmet says: While it shares similarities with SPI, the two are not the same. This is a dig at the books as a whole, and their games. They even stifled a novelization of Halo 1, by only agreeing if every original character not in the game died before the end.

Fact 2. All other Spartans, besides Jorge-052, are of a different Spartan program. That of the Spartan-3 program. Jorge is from that of the Spartan-2 program. The S-3 program was proposed and implemented by then Colonel James Ackerson. He was Catherine Halsey’s long time scientific rival, often loosing project funding to her Spartan-2 program. Ackerson’s program, however, had many trade offs that ONI found more attractive in the long run, as they provided equal results, at cheaper

Difference 1. The cost of the programs was night and day. Halsey’s Spartan-2 program became a resource nightmare for ONI during the Covenant war. Between the amount of active Spartans falling, to the creation, maintenance, upgrading, and replacement of the MJOLNIR armor they used, it was beginning to hinder other military budgets.

Ackerson’s Spartan-3 program was promised to provide the same results as his rival’s Spartans, while cutting the cost down through more cost effective alternatives. This was done through reducing the genetic requirements, the augmentations and the armor. The result was a Spartan on par with that of the former, at a reduced cost.

Difference 2. Halsey developed the Spartans to combat human terrorist organizations. Thus, her Spartan-2 program focused on sheer brutal power output. And while it’s easy to think otherwise, she carried for her Spartans. That well of military spending was to keep them alive. She admits her guilt for the things she’s done. She admits hade there been any other way, she would have done it. She regrets the necessity of it all, but stands by the results and successes her Spartans hold.

Ackerson proposed his Spartan-3 program at a time when humanity was loosing a war against the Covenant. His promise to ONI was to buy humanity time. To make a warrior so strong, the Covenant would back off a bit. He, however, had little personal influence on the program directly. Instead opting to take a Spartan-2 of the field in a dramatic fashion to fake their death, take orphaned, angry, vengeful children, transport them to an undisclosed planet called: Onyx, then through them at the enemy. He showed little to no personal regret for this, as he was very much focused on one upping his long time rival, who’s Spartans took his funding. Good riddance I say. Halsey at least felt the crushing weight of her decisions. She open admits to the regret she feels. But she can say her Spartans helped save humanity. Thus she is justified in her work, as morally bankrupt as it was.

Difference 3. Dr. Halsey looked for key genetic traits, resulting in the scouting, abduction replacement and forced conscription of 75 six year old children. Including the Master Chief, John-117. Last names were replaced with the number of their discovery, though budget cuts of the class’s size resulted in random number placement. That’s why the class was comprised of only 75 kids, yet the highest assigned numbers are in the hundreds. This was all before the Covenant appeared, so keep that in mind.

Ackerson’s Spartan-3 program made use of over 1,000 orphaned children through out the alien war. Gaslighting 300 children aged 4-6, the program loosened the genetic markers, making age a less of a factor. These children would comprise Alpha, Beta, and Gamma companies, each being 300 children at full capacity. Now the reason I bring up gaslighting, is because all children were considered angry and vengeful volunteer's. But if a four year old can’t consent to adult acts, they can’t consent to war fighting.

Difference 4. Halsey used the genetic markers of the 75 six year old children to predict the most survivors of the augmentation process, as the likelihood of all surviving the process was a pipe dream. At fourteen years old, the 75 children, having been trained like soldiers for nine years, underwent bio-chemical and cybernetic surgeries to enhance their physical beings. The results went from 75 fourteen year olds, to 33 in a matter of hours. Nine years of brutal military training, then being cut apart and reassembled on a cold metal slab. The majority died while a minority that had been crippled beyond recovery served non-combative roles. Some of the more prominent augments were: A growth hormone implant to make them taller and stronger, artificial material grafted onto every bone to increase durability, blood clot implants to increase wound sealing, just to name a few. But all of this was so they could utilize MJOLNIR. Without these augmentations, the armors power would, literally, physically destroy their bodies. But the augmentations were only doable with child bodies.

Ackerson’s program took a more natural course of action. The 300 orphaned children would under go nine years of even more grueling and harsher training, under that of an S-2, Kurt-051, later Kurt Ambrose during his stint within the S-3 program. After, they would be subjected to only chemical injections. These were a safer alternative to those used by Halsey. But the results were on par with their super solider peers. However, the cost effective trade off was that every meal they ate was laced growth supplements to increase their bodies BEFORE augmentation. This meant that 300 twelve and fourteen year old children, and I quote, “Had the bodies of full trained olympic athletes.” They had every enhancement that the S-2s did, but had a 100% survival rate. Some had allergic reactions, but all three hundred S-3s survived, as apposed to their super soldier peers, who lost the majority of their class to the augmentations. Spartan-3s could easily hold their breath for over fifteen minutes in oxygen deprived environments.

Difference 5. The armor Halsey had created was the MJOLNIR powered assault armor platform. This armor is the PRIMARY reason Spartans are as powerful as they are. It LITERALLY amplifies their power by a multitude of ten. It amplifies strength, speed, reaction time, can recycle urine into drinking water threw a catheter, control hormonal impulses, has a temperature control gel layer to keep a Spartan at peek body temperature,  internal oxygen capacity, and a slue of onboard computer systems that turn a single Spartan into a literal machine with a heartbeat. This comes at the cost of… well, cost. It was also so advanced, that when a normal human being wore it, they moved a finger. The suit amplified the moment, breaking it. The resulting spasms caused more broken bones and torn muscles,
t ll the man was dead and mangled inside. Only physically enhanced users could wear the suit, and only children could be enhanced to the necessary point of functionality. It would later include full body energy shielding and a Smart AI housing that would further enhance the Spartan’s power.

Ackerson’s most cost effective measure was the armor itself. The result was SPI armor. Semi-powered Infiltration armor. The drawbacks were: weaker armor plating, no meaningful physical or mental enhancement to the wearer, no advanced onboard computer systems. It did have force amplifiers on the gauntlets, and a specialized computer suite, but nothing as advanced as MJOLNIR. However, the trade off was built in active camouflage that rivaled the Covenant. Something even Halsey failed to create. The photo-reactive panels rendered the wearer invisible by human or alien eyes. They were also given a self sharpening blade that could tare through the alien armor with ease. However, what made it so appealing to ONI was that it had NONE of the requirements MJOLNIR had. Meaning none-augmented personnel could don it. Even after the war, some interpretation of SPI is worn by ODST units, including it’s active camouflage system. And as you can see in Reach, S-3s are more then capable of wearing MJOLNIR themselves.

  5. 1:27 Jontron once reviewed a movie – about the titanic, but otherwise irrelevant – that begins with a scene of the ship sunk before cutting back to how it all began. He then said, to paraphrase “how are we expected to enjoy what follows? We already knew going into this how the story ended, but they open by reminding us in such a gut-punching way?”

…feels familiar? (If you didn’t know this about this game already, genuinely sorry, it was common HALO lore knowledge at the time of release though)…

  6. I'm glad you picked up on Halsey's disappointed parent tone, it's almost on point to what she was feeling. For some added context, Halsey started and was a big leader in the Spartan 2 program that raised master chief (and Jorge!). She did a lot of super morally wrong things in it like kidnap their candidates as children to raise them with augmentations to become super soldiers.

To the little dialogue you noticed, Noble team is almost all spartan 3's, that were made differently from Halsey's spartans. She definitely looks down as them as copies of her program, and her puppet dialogue was definitely a tongue and cheek "My spartans would've taken the elites down AND done the primary objective". Jorge definitely wanted to talk more with her, she is a mother figure to him, but she was pretty focused on the chip Kat gave her and probably was upset after Carter bringing her power down a notch.

  7. The most beautiful of the Halo games IMO. The gear that can be used is a different type of mechanic, back in the day used to watch fails of the week for halo fails based off of this game. Enjoy the playthrough

  8. I hope you play Halo 4 and Halo Infinite. Both campaigns are very much worth playing. Halo 5 campaign is the most hated out of the series but you could just watch cutscenes or a summary of Halo 5 so you can just go straight to Infinite after Halo 4.

  9. 27:51 the dmr its your best friend, it instant kills unshielded or helmetless enemys if you land a headshot but as a dmr, has low fire rate and bloom so don't spam it on distance xd, then there is his covenant counterpart, the needler dmr its in a nutshell a better needler but has the same cons of the dmr plus the ability to insta kill a enemy if you stick with them enough needlers, dosen't stick on shields tough, only on flesh or unshielded invidivuals

And on lengendary a must have xd both guns

Buy both a somewhat low ammo capacity, so every bullet/neddler counts

  11. Great stuff, Jules 🤙

As someone already said, Jorge is a Spartan II of the same cohort as Master Chief… but the rest of Noble are Spartan III – which isn't really explained in this game, or any other for that matter, so I feel you need the appropriate lore: the Covenant war has been going on for about 32 years at this point, which has left a lot of war orphans behind… and all the Spartan IIIs are orphan volunteers who were made into Spartans via a very quick / dirty process without Halsey's supervision (she learned after the fact, which is why she is a bit colder towards Carter in their conversations)

This haphazard approach to creating the Spartan IIIs left them with serious mental stability issues – which is why everyone other than Jorge seems to have an attitude problem: Spartan IIIs need very specific drugs to level them out and make them combat effective – however, the drugs don't do much for personality disorders they've all been gifted with… but ONI doesn't really care since Spartan IIIs were seen as disposable assets (their armour sets aren't as beefy as Spartan IIs, which is why your character seems to take more damage)

More lore than really should be given for the games, but 'Reach' was crafted in such a way that Bungie expected folks to have read all the novels / comics (which are canon) up to that point in time, so you personally are left out of the loop 😥

  13. Very nice seeing you starting Halo Reach! It has such a good story but it's quite the emotional ride!

I tend to play it on legendary and the elites don't forgive any mistake.
If you ever have trouble dealing with them, I recommand using what is called the "Noob combo": Use the plasma pistol's overcharge ability (which tracks the enemy you target), and then use the DMR or pistol to land a headshot on the now shieldless elite.

  14. Hi Juliette! 👋

Welcome to your Halo Reach adventure (first time for me seeing this game 👀).

I thought I'd miss-heared when Holland said 26 hundred hours until I suddenly realised we're on planet Reach (27-hour day), not Earth. Oops, my bad start! 😂

I love the switch up in emphasis of your character (Noble Six) to being part of a team and having shared responsibility for the mission at hand, for now, at least.

Your team is far more up front and centre compared to previous Halo games and look and act so bad-ass, which is a huge plus! 🥰

It wouldn't be Halo if we didn't have the odd FF! I have to admit, though 32:43, had me laughing out loud with you doing it stealth style! 🤣 It can happen! 🤣

Thanks for the awesome first episode, Juliette! Have a great rest of your week, and I'll see you in the next one! 😊💜😸🐈🐈‍⬛️

  16. Reach is my favorite of the Halos. It’s mentioned in every Halo before it and now you will see why. Those birds are Moa they are native to Reach. The Covenant finding Reach was the UNSC’s biggest nightmare because it’s the main military HQ for the UNSC and its located very close to Earth often being referred to as Earth’s sister. You and Emile are new to the team so Emile is a bit hostile since he really hasn’t spent much time with them. Jorge is a Spartan II same as Chief they were in the same class in training. The rest are Spartan IIIs trained after the war began and mainly consists of orphans. Halsey created the Spartan IIs she knows the IIs by name but she didn’t make the IIIs so she calls them their service name. She is also colder to the IIIs because she doesn’t know them. Halsey is always more focused on the task at hand and the greater picture over the minor details and that’s something you will pick up about her throughout the next three main story games. Reach is probably the biggest battle the UNSC has during the war and Bungie did a great job making that a point throughout the 4 games before it. I’m excited to see what you think of this game as you play. It’s definitely the most impactful at least for me.

  17. 1:05:48 in case you don't understand the deal with the the rank zealot, that rank its the highest rank a elite could get in the games and are the toughest and combat effective elites, for example a zealot elite on ce were the golden armor ones xd, so imagine a squad of zealots.

Btw you might have notice her somewhat hostility to the spartan 3's but she has respect and caring for jorge the only spartan 2 of the group due of her being there during the spartan 2 pogram and being the one to choose the candidates for the pogram (chief included) and thats how tall spartan 2's are so you can guess how tall chief is (also he is somewhere in reach doing stuff and also alot of spartan's 2 and 3 stationed on reach at the time)

1:08:04 well once you reach (heh) the end of the game, you might know why she needs acted like that on urgency about that data the elites wanted so bad xd

  18. 1:09:00 as others might had said it already, the spartan 3's are all orphans, all of them their parent's die by the covenant one way or the other and are bloodthirsty for revenge, this is when oni started the spartan 3 pogram (wihout hasley) and all these orphans voluntered without question but of course due of it being mass produce and basicly throw the spartan 3's into combat as soon as they were ready into suicide missions they have lower quality equipment compared to spartan 2's and are also smaller, all this considered emile its the most bloodthirsty of the entire spartan 3 of the noble team (also considering the game came out during the time the og modern warfare was coming out, emile its quite the copy of ghost in apeareance in a way xd)

  19. Let's go. Halo Reach is tied with Halo 2 for my favorite Halo. Noble team is full of really awesome characters. But Carter standing up for Kat and clapping back at Halsey in that final cutscene instantly made him my favorite member of Noble team when I first played. He is calm and cool in his delivery, but you can tell that he doesn't appreciate her attitude towards him and his team. Carter is almost the perfect Spartan imo.
Others have probably said this already, but Halsey is probably acting like that towards them because Noble team are all Spartan 3s. Besides Jorge, he is a Spartan 2 like the Master Chief. The Spartan 2s were the children that were abducted and trained, they were the product of Halsey. But she didn't head the Spartan 3 program, so she isn't very fond of them. The Spartan 3s are all war orphans due to the covenant. And they were "recruited" into the Spartan program, unlike Spartan 2s. So they don't fit her vision of he Spartan program.

  20. Hey juliette! How you doing? Nice to watch you play halo reach, though friendly fire habits die hard i see😂, his name is Jorge
You know, you can make your spartan noble six play as female, or should i say “body type” due to 2024 political bs about genders and sheat and you can customize even further than just armor color
Halo reach events take place july to September 2552 and halo ce aka halo 1 events take place at September 2552 so no so much time before previous games. However the halo game that does predates other halo games is halo wars 1 which takes place 20 years before halo 1
Halsey only appreciates spartan ii class since she was in charge of their training back then
