  1. The 'facts' he is denying in counter saying its all myth about Baghdad and other mughals or islamic history, he got that 'knowledge' from the books he read.

The same 'facts' cane to knowledge due to some people have read some other books from where they reported those incidents originally.

So he wants us to believe anything written in english but we should counter check the knowledge came from other Arab or Persian books and historians?

once he will grow up, he'll be alright

  2. People should realize that this isn't an easy subject and Muzammil has done it brilliantly by articulating the right questions from someone who's kind of master in his realm. So, hats off to him

  3. How he read al razi? If he is talking about tafseer, then i tried to seqrch the translated version a lot but its only in arabic. Got to know about al razi, ibn tammiya and al ghazali through western scholars like nauman ali khan, omar suleiman, haifa yunus, yasmeen moghded. Pakistani maulvis ka scene id totally off. Al razi is banned by maulvis here. He was genious. His tafseer of quran is next level.

Can we list all the books he mentioned in his interview? جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ  خَيْرًا‎

  5. Better ships + better military technology (to keep fighting the never-ending European wars) + a way better banking system made Europe a superior military power, able to finance its colonial ventures. I suggest the book "The Rise and Fall of Great Powers" by Paul Kennedy. This will definitely help us understand why the West became very powerful

2 suggestions about your podcast please.

    1. please if you can mention the books and authors mentioned in the conversation as subtitle as sometimes its not audible sp. If the name is of a foriegn author.

    2. Please if you can lower the mic of the speaker a bit, it'll be more comfortable hearing and watching the person speaking without his/her half face hidden behind the mic.

  8. I have to add here at 32:33, I was misled by the mainstream favorite Naturist worldview propagators such as Neil DeGrasse Tyson. In his speech he said that Al Ghazali was responsible of the downfall of Golden Islamic era, Later I learned after doing my research that Ghazali was just presenting his arguments. The scientific Naturist worldview has been pushed on the masses for some time now, I agree to what he said about people not being conscious about their choices and lacking any ability to entertaining a thought with critical thinking.
Yes, exactly its Intellectual Dishonesty Pseudo Intellectuals of today never tried to put any efforts in learning the Islamic thought process because they already have convinced themselves of traditionalism as regressive thinking. They make many parallels from western thinkers in the similar manner.
I can say this because I was one of it, The past three years I have been washing myself from the whitewash. Good lad, made a few things clear of the decline in intellectual discourse but he mentioned Modudi to which I absolutely agree he was one of most prominent thinker of 20th Century and served Political Islam. I am still discovering more about Islamic intellectuals and this conversation was helpful.
I agree with Muzamil observation about the winter and survival, The master of seas was the key moment the Spaniards and the Portuguese were the pioneers of colonization.

  9. I was this guy when I was 20ish . Read some 120 books in my 4 years of btech all non fiction . Meet Peter frankopan in Mumbai chat with him for 15 minutes. I have some 750 books Library . But soon i realised the fake arrogance it gives you without living the life is dangerous so now I balance live my life , do actions, travel and also read books . Don't just read books or you will sound very smart , people will consider you one but still you will be shallow . Experience and take actions.

  10. This was the kind of episode which I have always wanted in TBT. Very academic, abstract and intellectual discussions, away from the nitty-gritty of the current affairs. It was extremely enlightening and insightful, as it did bust that Al-Ghazali myth for me (that he was against math etc.). Thank you for doing this, Muzammil!❤
