  1. LOTS of really good speculation right there. You've outdone yourself this reaction.
don't worry too much about overthinking luke.
im sure you're on the right track. not saying everything was correct tho. but its as good as you can get for the anime so far
    Keep those theories coming!

  3. 21:21 asura is a type of being in buddhism/hinduism though the exact specification differs between them, the word itself tends to be used in various fictional works since they can encompass both divine beings and simply supernatural creatures of sorts though in fictional works theyre more well known from their buddhist depiction of a lower race of divinity or gods as an incarnations of wrath with 3 faces and 6 arms while in hinduism theyre more like power seeking ancient gods that predate the devas/devis (think titan to the olympians)
basically you easily mightve heard it in some other work

  4. ah, I suppose that's another phrase that I've mostly only ever heard when it's translated from Japanese… when Kiruko asks Maru if he "saw Mikura as a woman" they're talking about seeing someone as potentially attractive. so you wouldn't really think of a mother, or an aunt, or a friend, in "the way that a man thinks about a woman" so to speak. so with this particular phrase, it's not a comment on the woman's gender, it's just about how a guy would see a potential partner, in contrast to other women in his life.

and you'll see this concept pop up slightly differently here and there, where a guy will be talking to a girl, and he'll say "I never saw you as a woman" and what he means isn't literally "I think you are a man" or anything… he just means that he never saw her through the lens of chivalry, and he was never trying to coddle her or impress her the way he might do if he was romantically interested. basically, there's etiquette around how men are supposed to treat a lady, and if he "doesn't see her as a woman" that means that he's viewing her more like they're equal in terms of expectations.

but then this all gets a little bit of dramatic irony from the fact that Maru got a crush on Kiruko while assuming they were a girl. but Haruki still sees himself as a boy, which leaves the gender identity of Kiruko ambiguous at best. Maru saw Kiruko "as a woman" in both senses, and Kiruko is at least somewhat not on the same page about that.

honestly, I find Kiruko's gender to be kind of fascinating, because after spending enough time in a female body, and coming to the realization that it might be the only body he gets for the rest of his life… it starts to raise some questions about gender, and how much it matters or doesn't. like, if Haruki still feels very strongly that he is a boy, then does that make him trans now, functionally speaking? how much of his current appearance would/could he change if he wanted people to identify his gender correctly? he seems to not mind, or even possibly like some aspects of it… and if we're just talking about his comfort level with the body he inhabits, he doesn't seem actively distressed by existing this way. if anything, he seems pretty ambivalent to it. he'll insist that the fact of him being a boy never changed, but he also clearly doesn't care much about the language that is used with him, since Maru constantly calling him "big sis" is still fine. and in some ways, I think Haruki still sees this body as being his sister's body, first and foremost. like he's just keeping it in a way he hopes she would've wanted, or close to the way he remembers her.

but it's also giving the relationship between Maru and Kiruko an interesting asymmetrical perspective, where Kiruko sees them as two boy best friends who can share anything with each other, and be weird together, and take on the world, while Maru sees Kiruko as kind of like a cool, slightly older girl, whose attention makes him feel special, but who also understands him way better than most other girls he's met before. and like, when Maru feels attraction to girls, Kiruko is just like "hey man, I get it, been there." so they don't really fault Maru for it, but they also don't really feel like they can reciprocate. it's just such a good weird dynamic.

  5. The scene where the children dance and play instruments to wake up Tarao is based on the legend of Amanoiwato from Japanese mythology.
According to the myth, the world became pitch black after the sun goddess Amaterasu shut herself up in a cave called Amanoiwato. Troubled by this, the other gods made a fuss by dancing and singing outside the cave in order to lure Amaterasu out of the cave. Finally, Amaterasu Omikami was lured out of the cave by the sound of some kind of happy laughter coming from outside.

By the way, the god who danced outside Amanoiwato was Ame no Uzume. The girl who danced at the facility was named Anzu, after the goddess Amenouzume.

  7. I mean there are many ways someone could take him. Take the supposed Ministry of Reconstruction for example. There's shit like tranq guns or sleep gas, they could even prolly use robots or cyborgs or w/e to kidnap his ass too if they wanted to. Something called the Ministry of Reconstruction has to have at least some heavy duty industiral/science complex places for themselves (the moment the Great Disaster happens, some big brain dudes w/ long-term Plan would beeline for military & research/engineering spots to grab all that shit before someone else gets the idea/chance. I'm honestly surprised how few people in post-apocalyptic type media heads to such places to begin with, instead just staying w/e normie areas where it's clearly not at all rly that safe, nor have a fuckton of resources & other stuff)

  8. This anime is okay.

But if I had to recommend something, I would recommend "The Promised Neverland" over this anime.

Both anime have similar setups in some parts, but "The Promised Neverland" is more enjoyable to watch because it has a better pace, no random structure, and a completed story.

Although it's no comedy and more suspense.

  9. Kids have teeth they lose when their adult teeth grow in, that’s what Maru meant when he said his teeth will grow back and then sis said no that was your adult tooth, implying it won’t grow back
