I built the Washington DC Hotel at 4th @ New Jersey N.W. in 1969 or so. We took lunch down in the bottom of the parking garage, cause it was cool in the Washington heat. Sewer rats had found a way in and because of dropped or left food from lunch, were coming often to check. We started feeding them, by hand, and they were quite tame and surprisingly clean. No one ever got bit.
