Its like Cotton mentioned. His entire point was being the Vampire Dragon co existing with the Qurio. Now hes just another Dragon. The orgals in his theme don't make sense anymore either.
The fight was 10/10 … but as the Monster itself I prefer the Vampire Malzeno.

Skip to 9:20 to get past the usual extended intro of unneeded blah blah to get to the actual hunt. And 14:45 when Rage actuald starts fighting instead of just running around like an horny obsessed fan. ( update) nvm he just claims he isnt a pushover after hitting Malzeno less than 10 times while Cotton does the work. Jesus just hunt the stupid elder dragon!! You failed the first time because you just sat there drooling like an idiot and not “hitting the giant dragon” you wanna know why only 7% of people were using GS? This is why, cause you portray them as being mindless shiny object( in this case Malzeno) following weirdos who make others do the work so they can grab a screen shot

Its still weird to me that its the first game without any kind of Black Dragon but im glad Primordial is the final Monster and not Amatsu
While amatsu looked cool i really didnt like the fight because it was far too easy, but Primordial Malzeno is on par rith Raging Brachydios in Iceborne in terms of Fight design and i love it.
What an amazing monster! This monster has seriously kicked my ass. It's the only monster where I've had to roam the map building spiribird buffs in order to stand a chance.
Honestly, the end of this hunt is probably captures the spirit of monster hunter the best out of anything in the modern MH era. While hunting is always a part of the MH franchise, it’s always out of respect of the balance of nature, so aiding Primordial Malzeno rather than slaying him in order to preserve the balance by removing the qurios really feels like the spirit that Monster Hunter has fostered since the beginning
This is my headcanon for primordial malzeno. Whether you agree disagree is fine, its just what it seems like so far.
The vampiric Flagship is obviously the true variant due to the fact that it was pointed out that it received the qurio from its large-scale Turf War with gaismagorm and although it did achieve symbiosis with the parasite it did become weaker. You can see this in the comparison with normal (the one we started with) and primordial it's much skinnier than primordial. This is possibly due to the fact that when it hunts it doesn't really "eat" its prey in truth it really just lets the qurio absorb their life essence then return to it. This has resulted in normal Malzeno losing its thicker scales and it wings becoming thinner and it's unable to use them in attacks that seem more like a lance sword or Shield attack outside of the Wing slam that it uses after teleporting. There's more but I'm not going to drone on unless anyone wants to know.

Biggest disappointment is the last quest not having us kill qurios as small monsters, introducing them officially as small monsters you can kill like insects like bnhabras or vespoids. Would've been hilarious having the final official quest be against small monsters. Could've made it like a bonus quest or something.
I love that Josh is having the same moment as Fiorayne with thinking "should we be killing this guy?" both of them having the same doubt about if the monster that hates the Qurio is truly their enemy.
Also, being able to cap off the game with Cotton's dad finally reaccepting him as his family literally couldn't have been a better ending to Sunbreak.
I think Primordial Malzeno saw the argument about Lance not being flashy… because his sure as hell is lol.
It clicked after a few minutes into the hunt that Primordial was very "Lance" in how it was initially fighting me, given I use that thing a lot and just saw a reflection of my own tendencies. Until he started battling the Qurios and the moveset became more ferocious, anyway.
I did kind of see the Knightly theme coming though, as in some versions of the Dracula story he would start out as Knight who turned to evil as a way to control it and how much suffering it wrought upon the people… so, I fully expected that angle for this guy.
I would like to say though… "White Dragon" as a term really could be a thing, as I believe Oltura (MHS2 Final Boss) would sort of count here too… they seem to be more powerful than Black Dragons, but they serve a higher purpose… unlike Black Dragons who simply bring unmatched destruction and calamity.
Oltura (if I have the name right) is simply following a higher purpose when you encounter it, and it's not trying to senselessly destroy everything in the same way a Black Dragon would…
So, the argument may hold some ground.
Hey does anyone remember one of the messages that you can pick up from the jungle map? The one that mentions “a large dragon soaring through the sky with blue wings”…was it referring to primordial malzeno?!

Huh. Sort of a combination of vampire myths, with a smattering of Star Wars Sith vs Jedi going on.
Primordial Malzeno is a Jedi, the qurio are basically trying to make it into a Sith and taking advantage of hunter’s fighting P.Mal to make him go, “God, FINE, you flying leechs! But the second these hunters are dead, YOU’RE NEXT!” and the he’s using qurio powers, KINDA like a Jedi delving into the dark side JUST a little bit.
But then he enters that rage state, and he looks like a “regular Malzeno” but MUCH more powerful and menacing, and that kinda ties into aspects of modern vampire mythology.
There are a few series, the most notable of which is World of Darkness, which take the stance that vampires get weaker depending on how far the curse has been spread around, AKA how many “generations” there are. And if a vampire is a SOURCE vampire, who became a vampire NOT because he was bitten by one but by however an OG vampire could be made, he will be WAY more powerful than any vampires that he creates, and then they create, and etc.
Tying that into Malzeno and Primordial Malzeno, P.Mal in his rage state attacked by qurios is the equivalent of a SOURCE vampire. While “regular” Malzeno is actually weaker because he’s now relying on the qurios rather than his own power.
🤔😂 Or to put it a shorter, funnier way, regular Malzeno is basically a crack-addict, and that’s why he’s weaker than P.Mal.
I also liked that in the cutscene after repelling Mal any broken parts are shown in it!
The paladin connection is spot on his wings are shields and swords at the same time he’s got a Valstrax like move set with how he utilizes his wings and that ultimate form is phenomenal I thought I liked scorned Magnamollo, the most, but he’s been pushed to number two.
