ARC Raiders REALLY Surprised Me (Hands-On Impressions)

Recently I went hands on with ARC Raiders, the upcoming PvEvP Extraction Shooter from Embark Studios. While I would have loved to see their original vision for a Looter Shooter, gotta say I’m impressed with their take on Extraction. Here are my thoughts on ARC Raiders so far.

  1. Choosing to go extraction shooter has me a bit concerned. The only extraction shooters that have survived more than a year are DayZ, EFT & Hunt Showdown. All of those are slow paced & first person. Seeing the gameplay, I have my doubts that this would do well as an extraction shooter.

  2. This may sound weird but as a looter shooter player who moved to extraction games years ago, this game looks like EXACTLY what this genre needs right now, something less mil sim, and something more unique so that it can stand out with ease. It also looks amazing and not disappointed to hear the change as this looked like a loot shooter that would of died on launch with how it looked. I think this was the perfect direction.

  3. It is just a lazy change in direction… they get to "sell" new players to the hardcore players. Easy kills and the jerks get to be jerks. Plus it pushes people into microtransactions to try and compete. But with that is the fact it takes just a single cheat engine to sink your entire game. There are enough extraction PVP games out already, many just scraping by because the genre just does not carry well with a lot of people who refuse to be fodder to some kid who plays 18 hours a day and knows how to put a cursor over a single pixel to win.

  4. Seems like they were quite far into it as a looter shooter.. seems like the PvP is much of an after thought.. Shame. Even if there was an option in-server just to disable or enable PvP!

  5. This devs ruined the game already! Thank you very much I couldn’t even get to buy it before you ruined it! From a looter shooter to an extraction game? Haven’t you seen that extraction game are always a failure! Whats next making it BR? This should be survival open world, its 2025 for gods sake!

  6. A pvpve game is often not great at either PVE or PvP in the long run. PVE content dries up quick, half the player base abandons because all that’s left is PvP, and the new players that trickle in will just get stomped by the seasoned PVPers that are still around
