Apple Japan won’t accept Apple Pay at Apple Store – only buy-now-pay-later option

I was up at 5:55am and reserved a iPhone 14 Pro to pick up. They wouldnt take Apple pay or a credit card — only a dodgy loan shark app called PAIDY which makes me pay in 24 month installments. No Receipt. Charged in blocks of ¥50,000 … Apple Japan does not accept Apple Pay at Apple Stores for iPhones Pros. What the heck is wrong with Apple日本??

Apple Japan is not Apple USA.
The service has made me feel bad about Apple products.

  1. Unless they’re trying to prevent flipping and reselling for a profit. Ferrari has done this with a couple of cars keep people from flipping them.
A ridiculous policy for a phone.

  2. On the surface businesses and customer service in Japan appear to be honest, but weak and non enforced customer protection 'regulations'… Behind the scenes it can get pretty shady.

  3. Hi John, $%& ! go to Android. Sounds horrible story and Apple has lots it's edge, , Maybe others in Japan will realize Android is a better phone and then Apple Japan will change it's business model.

  4. Say goodbye to Apple and see if they have a T-Mobile there in Japan T-Mobile's always been good to me I've been with T-Mobile for about 5 years and every time I need a new phone they give me one they don't even ask questions they don't even charge me why don't you forget about Apple and all these other phone companies and check into T-Mobile but I hope I bet I wish you the best of luck

  5. I think the reason is that Apple don't want people to flip their phones once they walk out of the Apple store for profit like they used to, and do in other countries. Data collection is one thing but I doubt Apple is going to such extreme to do so.

  6. Sometimes this happens because the company is no longer able to handle large cash gains all at once. They are no longer able to invest! They prefer to treat customers as a source of fixed and controlled monthly income, even taking the risk of having unpaid installments. And the funny thing is that banks are becoming that way too! Do you deposit large amounts of money? You annoy them, they encourage you to do it in installments. I bought my latest Samsung in installments: I could have paid for it all at once, but in that case I would have paid more! Can you believe it?! It is the exact opposite of what one expects!!

  7. Apple Japan such a disgrace!!
Same with Amazon Japan, they're just withdraw double your money when you order random stuff within a few days from each other. And they gave their shipment system the fault for it. In other words the Amazon system is a total piece of crap, just like Apple it seems. lol
It pisses me off that we only can rely on these crap online systems at this point instead just going straight to the store like we did 30 years ago….😑
