What a fantastic compilation. Thanks!
Sadly eminent domain is an unlawful and illegal actβ¦!
..I so love your stories, the way you tell them and the insight you give to a past life of living and surviving in the mountains..As hard as it was,i feel inside me,its something i missed out on,i real life of hard graft, survival, skilled labour and tight communities..A strong togetherness and a true connection too Mother Earth..The World has lost itself in Industry, ignorance and greed..Id say most of the world has forgotten its duty to our world of protecting it,using it,not abusing it and letting it replenish and keep on giving..THESE PEOPLE WHO DECIDED TO CALL THEMSELVES THE GOVERNMENT,THE DECIDER,THE RULER OF ALL THINGS ARE THE PROPLEM WITH THIS WORLD AND ALL THE SCARS IT BARES..IT IS THEY THAT HAVE DESTROYED,ABUSED AND RUINED EVERYTHING,THERE GREED AND LUST FOR MORE,MORE AND MORE WANTING MORE POWERS,MORE MONEY,MORE RULES WITH ADDED MORE SUFFERING..THE INDUSTRIAL EVOLUTION IS WHAT BECAME THE PRISON OF ALL GOOD MEN AND WOMEN,NO LONGER LIVING AND WORKING ON THERE LANDS..NOW TRYING TO LIVE ON LANDS STOLEN FROM THEM AND THEN RENTED BACK AT A FEE..THE TRUE CONNECTION OF PEOPLE LIVING ON AND IN THE WILDERNESS HAS BEEN FORCIBLY STOLEN FROM THEM AND ARE NOW SLAVES TO THE MACHINES OF INDUSTRY AND THE CHAINS OF THE GOVERNMENT BINDED TO THEM AND WITH THERE MINIONS WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE…Sorry JD but i had to get that off my chest, just feel sad in away of how we have been cheated and robbed of our right to free land..This Planet is not for sale..Its a gift from the Gods..Its ours and its our Play Ground for enjoyjng and embracing all the beautiful that it has to offer..I connect alot with your Wondrous tales JD and glad i found your channel a long while agoπ..God Bless you Brotherπβ€π..Stay strong and live longπ
You're a really talented storyteller.
Love all your stories. Thank you JD.
That was great. What top people. Would of liked to have lived there myself, well after the Civil War. Cheers
I loved Dr. Polly's story.
JD…is there a story about how you found humility in your life?
My grandmother was a Bailey before she marred my grandfather on my moms side of the family……..My grandmother was part of Maggie
Bailey family……..Thank you brother JD…..I know you might believe it but it is true……..
Old F-4 ShoeπΊπΈ in my late 80's
Dr. Polly was an amazing woman who helped her family and community!
πππππoncoreπππππΊπΊπΊ
Polly was a witch, a wise woman, not a doctor. The voice that came to her likely means there were others with similar skills in her deep ancestry.
I think Katy should have gone to see her mother…
I agree with you about eminent domain π
Loved all the stories… listening to you telling them is way better than watching TV or a movie… thanks JD π€β€οΈπ
Sorry but you should have not sided with the yanks sorry
Thanks for the videos and all the research you do to make them.
Caty Sage was right not to leave the family she now had. It could have been a trip from which she would not have returned, and that would have been an added tragedy. She was right in saying that she had lost her original family long ago. She needed to stay with her adopted family, where she was loved, accepted and understood.
101:50 I recently was looking up my maiden name in old library accounts. I came to find, that someone with the same last name was captured by the Native Americans in Kentucky, her and her son. Unfortunately she incurred injuries which cost her her her life. This happened at a creek which was later named after her.
Her son was taken up north to Ohio, where he grew, married a squaw and they had 4 children. In some kind of treaty with white people , they were handed over to the whites, as part of a peace treaty. After he had died leaving the children fatherless.
I do not know if these people are relatives, though I have an odd maiden name, so I figure they are, way back somewhere.
I know in my family very dark skin and dark hair runs in our family. So who knows???
I now live in Ohio in Wyandotte and Mingo country. We just never know do we.
All of the mountain women story's touched my heart. My kinfolk on my mama's side are from kentucky
β€ Thank you for making this compilation. How you aren't at a jillion subscribers is baffling! I miss my Granny so much but have such fond memories, she too dabbled in White Lightning. The stories she had, (mostly kept her shining days to herself, she found the Lord) what I wouldn't give to hear her again. So important to sit, listen and ask questions from our elder. Do it while you can folks! β€
Always look forward to your videos. This was excellent, thank you! Happy New Year! π€
I would like to hear about the top fueds of the Appalachians.
1:54 How much do you want to bet, that the first thing Sophie sees when she wakes at the Lord's return; is that ocean she had dreamed of seeing.
1:09:06 is where Iβm at now Iβll finish watching later on today very good stories JD very good.
The five year old girl was my aunt on my mother's side. Sage. I know the story. This story is most likely the closet to true. She is known as the Queen or Mother of the tribe. I am glad her and her mother and family got many answers.
Thank you JD β€π
I think she should have went to see her mother or at least sent for her to see her. As a father myself I know how devastating that would be to me a lot of heartache
HALLELUJAH, I am related to Hiram King. Thank you, for this story of my ancestors. ππ
Cary Sage would make a great movie.
Loved the Maggie Bailey story. a true mountain girl for sure, even with her money & fame she kept her mountain ways & helped her neighboring folk, her life sure would make a great movie, God Bless her, RIP Maggie, the big guy up there better kept his eye on you & keep you away from cans & tubing lol
I wish i could find info about Creasie Moore. She was a witch in eastern Ky.
My Dad is from Hazzard KY. My Mom from Pineville. He and my Mom lived through the Great Depression. I was taught the lessons they learned on survival and Faith.
It's always so chilling to hear how soldiers on both sides during the Civil War treated their fellow Americans. π’ Julia was such a strong woman! She deserved that pension. Thanks for these history lessons.
What a wonderful compendium of women with grit and soul
Great stories, a couple even made my eyes wet – well done.
