‘Angry youths’ take down Captain Cook statue in Melbourne

Sky News host Liz Storer says some “angry youths” are considering themselves the “heroes” after they took down a Captain Cook statue in Melbourne.

The incident was filmed and posted on Instagram.

“The bottom line is it’s not got to do with any rich cultural heritage type thing – they’ve not read any books about it,” Ms Storer said.

“It is simply angry young youths who have been fed this Marxist trope coming out of school, coming out of university – ‘we’re the bad guys’.

“So naturally they’re made not to be proud of Australia and they consider themselves the heroes.”

  1. Some of these losers should do some research before knocking down the greatest navigator in all of history.
Compared to his colonial contemporary’s he was a milder English Man in comparison.
Do some reading you drop kicks or can’t you read or understand anything except what bullshit you’ve been told by completely uneducated twats.
James Cook was by all intents and purpose a modern person by the standards of the 18th century and tried so hard to avoid any tension with all peoples they met on their voyage’s of exploration.
He certainly was no Hernando Cortez or Francisco Pizarro.
These individuals who have desecrated Cooks statue should be charged with destruction of historical property like as if they have destroyed a statue of Marbo,William Barak or king Wonga.

  2. Cook was the worlds most brilliant hydrographic surveyor. I am a hydro surveyor in NZ – there are parts of NZ that his surveys still are as accurate as modern surveys. There is a hydrographic industry in NZ – its roots from Cook. Its essential that such surveys are carried out for safe moorings and landings from marine vessels. And by the way if it was not Cook that claimed NZ for England then the French were 2 weeks behind him! I also laugh at people who whine about Colonialism yet use services like modern medicene, modern transport, have longer lives etc……. that came from the 'West'

  3. Considering the rise in this type of mindless, stupid vandalism, the authorities should now realise that this will occur with increasing frequency. That being the case, why are these statues and other historical monuments now under constant video security.

  4. Very easy to be critical 253 years after the fact. 3 or more years aboard ship, completely self sufficient, looked after the health of his crew, was generally well regarded by the various peoples he made contact with, an incredible navigator. No GPS in those days.
His knowledge of the natural world was incredible. No fancy survival equipment. His contribution to the sciences is excellent.
Shame cutting the statue down will probably be those losers only contribution to society. The society they no doubt take full advantage of. Do some reading. educate yourselves before chopping these people down.

  5. It is a Racist Attack against Australia, just like "Welcome to (F**K-OFF MY) Country" and "Acknowledgement of Traditional Ownership" (Always was & will be — "You can leave NOW!"). Time to shut this CRAP down, including the flag! I don't want to fund being racially abused or vilified for being a white Australian flying the Australian flag.

  7. Cook and his crew were stranded in northern Queensland. They were helped by the Indigenous people of the area to get his ship back into the water to complete his journey back to England. If he hadn't got the Endeavour repaired and back into the sea, then we'd probably be colonised by someone else less benign than the British – the Belgians and french were far worse. Cook, by the way, was a working class farm boy made good. He was self educated and is considered the greatest cartographer and navigator in history. His mapping skills helped the British conquer Canada. He tried to avoid conflict with natives. That's why he was killed. He tried to make peace with the natives who had stolen a boat. The education departments haven't allowed real history to be taught in decades and we are seeing the fruit of Marxist indoctrination.

  8. It seems that leftism and delayed cognition are synonymous. It's been 123 years since Victoria became a state, 82 years since the Statute of Westminster 1942 was passed by British Parliament, and 38 years since the Australia Act 1986 was passed by Australian Parliament, and these poor retards still do not know. Give them another 100 years, I'm sure they'll finally get it in the 22nd century come 2124 A.D.
