I saw The Angels many times at pubs in the day. One of the best live band shows ever. Great tracks, tons of energy. always left a smile.
The first concert I ever went too was The Angels at the South Grafton Ex Servicemans Club, I snuck in with a fake ID when i was 17 years old. Guns n Roses credits The Angels as one of their biggest influences along with Rose Tattoo.
Lead singer Doc Neeson had theatrical training and incorporated it into his performances.

I went to an Angels concert at The Sunshine Coast Queensland in the early 90s. One bar into the first song, there was a total power cut and the place was in darkness…and silence musically. They never got it restored so we were all refunded and went home. Bummer. There was no follow up concert either. They just moved on to the next town in their tour

They're not called Angels. They are The Angels. Just like The Kinks, The Animals, The Beatles, The Darkness..lol
These guys were using the same studio at Albert's Productions in Sydney during the 70's as AC/DC. They loved it when Accadacca had just left about half an hour after they'd pulled an all nighter in the studio, straight after a gig of course, ( to get that live feel!). A wall of cigarette smoke on entering, empty beer & Coke cans all over the shop! And, the valves of the amps were still hot 🔥 ! Made for a great recording session I reckon!

The drummer lived near my cousins and Tuesday was practice night at his place. I was one of the 100 + kids hanging in the street the night they learned this song. Always will love it.
The lead guitarist does not move all night, it's fun to watch the others go nuts while he stands still for every song

I first saw The Angels in 1975, Keystone Angels at the time, supporting AC/DC. It was a school excursion at the Whyalla Cinema, South Australia. It cost 0.60c with permission from our parents of course, I was 10.

The best of 70s n 80s from Australia. The Angels are still Rockin, with their current lineup and still doing the same songs we love. I see them every chance i get. Doc Neeson was a legend, but Dave Gleeson of the Screaming Jets does a great job of singing for them nowdays. Us Aussies still Rock Hard to these guys! Another great Oz band from same era, and still going is Rose Tattoo.
AC/DC is another Pub Rock band from the 70s here in Oz. Fantastic era! And Stevie Wright, and The Radiators, and so much great times.
The Angels were by far my favorite Australian live act, i've lost count of how many times i attended gigs. I feel privileged to have befriended a few band members, including the late Bernard "Doc" Neeson. When it came to front-man, Doc's performances were legendary. He was on a totally higher level.
Lead singer Doc Neeson (may he rest in peace) was a Belfast Irishman just like Bob Geldof
Doc (RIP) was a legend of Aussie pub rock. Was also a qualified teacher who actually served with the Australian Defense Forse as a teacher (Chalky) and was awarded a medal many years after he left because of his dedication to the military – was doing lots of shows for troops deployed overseas

Just looked something up…. Because for some reason i had a memory of Doc and something to do with Mad Max. I was thinking he had a part in the movie. But apparently he was asked to play Max prior to Mel. But he was touring and couldn't take the time. LOL. He would have been a hell of a Max.

In the late 70s i think , went to cloudland in brisbane and watched The Angels and The Flowers (became icehouse) .
So I'm assuming that most of you folks that are Commenting are maybe not Americans. They were marketed as angel city here in the US. And to this day still one of my favorite bands.
My high school (Frankston High School, Melbourne Australia) used to have a "dance" at the school hall. It was known as "The Big Fish" (the school logo). I saw The Angels live there back in the "dark ages", when there were Sharpies and Surfies/ers. Saw AC/DC and many other fledgling Aussie bands there too. Saw John Farnham at the @Sovereign? Hotel as well. Ah, the memories.

In America and Europe they had to change their name to Angel City.
We're huge in Australia but bad management in USA and record company stuffs ups there saw their gradual demise.
Just a little background to the moment you pointed out at 6.01 of the video. The guitarist is Rick Brewster who in the early days used to jump around the stage like 'Doc' He was teased about that and decided he would instead stand like a statue. The bass player is Chris Baily, who is just trying to get John to break his persona.

This song is about the Holocaust. One of the greatest bands to ever come out of Australia that didn't make it internationally. Doc is no longer with us. Check out Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. For a killer bass line check out Marsailles (spelling is wrong I know)
