In this powerful episode of ‘George to the Rescue’: a much-needed renovation for a selfless and beyond deserving veteran community located in Gardner, Massachusetts.
Since its founding in 1982, the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center (MVOC) has been dedicated to supporting veterans in North Central Massachusetts. Every year, the MVOC provides essential services to over 500 veterans, including housing, mental health counseling, case management, benefits advisement, and reintegration activities. Additionally, they offer a food and clothing pantry, as well as a food box delivery program and medical transportation. MVOC’s goal is to ensure that every veteran in their community can access the resources they need to thrive.
Tune in as host George Oliphant — along with the Jane Barnes Interiors design team, BB&R Design-Build, National Grid, Comcast, 3M, local electricians, flooring crews, painters, and artists who all graciously donated their time, creativity, and resources to making this remodeling project a reality — transform the center into a more modern, relaxing, and comfortable space for these amazing local veterans and their families…all while helping to raise awareness for MVOC’s important and heartwarming mission in the process. And you better believe that the fun surprises didn’t just end with all of these jaw-dropping construction and energy efficient upgrades: the Boston Red Sox invited these valiant heroes for a once-in-a-lifetime private tour of Fenway Park AND to a game during the upcoming baseball season; Comcast provide free Wi-Fi and laptops to the center so that its participants could continue to thrive in all of their endeavors; and National Grid donated $10,000 to assist MVOC’s outreach efforts. Behold: the true power of community in effect!
